Evidence and fact-based investigation on Tatmadaw's false claims of 2020 election

The Military orchestrated a coup and seized power unlawfully and unjustly on 01 Feb 2021. They claim that there were over 10.4M voter list irregularities (10,482,116) which could have led to voting

...malpractices and frauds in the 2020 General Election and the allegation was used to justify the coup. As such, the Military formed the legal basis for their military take over. However, the Military's seizure of power is unlawful and unconstitutional.

In addition, their claims of election fraud is a deliberately fabricated falsehood. The following are the evidence and facts found to prove why such is the case.

(1) Taking account of the fact that Myanmar has approximately 34.4 million people over 18 years of age and that there were about 38.8 million voters as announced by the Union Election Commission, over 10.4 million voter list irregularities is a number far from the truth.

In fact, we found out that the irregularities documented by the Tatmadaw Information Team were taken from the second voter list which was intended for checking by the public and it is unlikely that the revised voter list to be actually used for the election was reviewed.

(2) Among the political parties who refused to accept the election outcome, 14 of them announced their support for the military after the coup. However, these parties have an extremely small chance of winning seats in both the 2020 general election and the 2015 general election.

(3) Comparing the results of both the 2015 and 2020 general elections, it has been observed that there is a widely significant gap in the number of votes received between NLD which received the highest number of votes, and USDP which received the second-highest number of votes.

(4) Over 10.4 million voter list irregularities allegedly reported by the Tatmadaw is an intentionally fabricated quantity inflated by including over 6 million numbers that do not align with the nature of elections and voters list.

(5) In other words, what the Military presented was merely a compilation of "voter list irregularities which could have led to voting frauds" rather than a documentation of "voting frauds which actually occurred in the election".

To determine the integrity of a free and fair election, the election must be observed through all three periods of before, duration, and after. While no major cases were reported during and after the 2020 general election, there were errors in the voter list due to technical and

management incapacity. Nonetheless, the public was allowed to check the voter list and request corrections if required weeks before the election. The action of the Military to hold announcements and reviews on voter list irregularities then but release them after the election...

results have been officially announced as unprocedural and inappropriate. The Military's ignorance of the principles of democratic elections as well as the exploitation of the principles of data analysis to fabricate and report false statistics is deplorable.

In addition, the unjust seizure of power committed on the basis of such fabricated justification is an act that well-deserve condemnation.

Recently, there has been news of unlawful arrests and detainment of members and chairs of election commission by the Military- the motive behind which is highly questionable.

Nonetheless, facts and data clearly show that 2020 general election results reflect the will of the people. And, only the government elected in accordance with that will shall be the legitimate government of the people to represent the people.

Hence, we are in need of help from all of you to spread the words about the forgery and falsification of the Tatmadaw to local and international media, organizations, and our fellow citizens.
