1/x We, the #MedPeds21 applicants, stand with #DrDennar, the residents of @TulaneMedPeds, & students @ Tulane. Violence & discrimination were perpetrated against #DrDennar over several years while she tried to protect her residents of color who were subject to the same violence.
1) Immediate reinstatement of Dr. Princess Dennar to her position as program director for the Tulane Med-Peds residency program.
2) Immediate resignation of Dr. Jeffrey Wiese, Associate Dean of Graduate Medical Education and DIO.
3/x Demands cont:
3) Immediate dismissal of Dr. Lee Hamm from duties as Senior Vice President and Dean of the Tulane School of Medicine.
4/x These immediate demands are to ensure accountability for the damage caused to #DrDennar and the residents of @TulaneMedPeds. Without these demands met, Tulane Med-Peds, and by extension, its categorical programs, risk applicants not ranking their programs. #DNRTulane
5/x The highly disappointing & inadequate statement released by @TulaneMedicine on 2/14/21 offers no accountability for the racist actions by its administration. This calls into question its commitment to anti-racism and equitable treatment of its residents, faculty, and staff.
6/x If a residency program can’t equitably treat its program leadership, faculty, and residents, then it has no business training the next class of physicians. In NOLA and elsewhere, this perpetuates the inequity BIPOC communities already face.
