THREAD: Some horrors are described in a court filing against alleged US Capitol insurrectionist Michael Lopatic of Lancaster, PA. He's accused of "pummeling" a DC police officer as that officer attempted to save a wounded colleague
He allegedly grabbed the officer by the head and threw uppercut punches
Then... amid the savage fight.... he allegedly stole the officer's body-work camera. Showing "the foresight to traverse an angry mob to take what would have been a crucial piece of evidence in bringing those who attacked officers... to justice"
In a request to a federal judge to keep Lopatic in custody, the US Justice Dept showed this November 4th Facebook post allegedly made by Lopatic ===>
Citing Lopatic's "wish to do harm to government officials" and "the fact that he has access to firearms".... the feds sought court order to keep Lopatic detained pending future hearings. Case is being transferred to DC. No response yet to my inquiries to his defense lawyer

THREAD: More than a dozen Trump political appointees have secured civil service positions inside same agencies they were helping to run. nbcwashington.com/news/politics/…
Here are some: Chief of Staff - Veterans Health Administration 1/
In 2016, a DC nonprofit employee named Jarrett admitted a scheme to impersonate the chief of staff of Rep John Lewis.
According to his plea agreement, Jarrett created fake stationary with the Congressman’s name and Cannon House Office Bldg suite number.... but listed his own personal cell phone number
Jarrett’s scheme was to pretend to be Congressman Lewis’ chief of staff to get access to the sidelines of a Washington Redskins game and “special” access to the Clevelander bar on South Beach in Miami. It worked.
If I had to wager... I’d wager against schools opening even partially in September in most local school systems. Tough call... but I’d put my money on “not”. So many q’s about class size, transpiration, equity, budgets, older teachers, liability
And so many dominoes fall. Workforce - parents who can’t leave kids home alone. Lost learning - distance learning is ... um... less than optimal. Mental health - children not in school suffer and can’t be monitored for possible abuse at home
Standardized testing and graduation requirements seem certain to be waived. Some parents don’t mind, but how do we measure pedagogy and achievement
