1) It looks like Pelosi is covering up the reasons why there was insufficient security at the US Capitol on January 6.

Did Pelosi purposely create the stage, as political theater, for the US Capitol Police to be overrun? House GOP leaders are asking questions that need answers.

3) Why was US Capitol Police Chief Steve Sund DENIED his request for National Guard backup two days before the fact, on January 4?

Keep in mind that the US Capitol Police is under the command of the congressional leadership, not the president.

4) Not asked by the congressmen, but appropriate here: Why did DC Mayor Muriel Bowser refuse the Trump Administration's offer of National Guard and other federal backup on January 5? (Pelosi had just given Bowser unusual House floor privileges.)

5) Did House Sergeant at Arms Paul Irving (appointed by the House, immediately in charge of Capitol Police on House side) "get permission or instruction" from Pelosi's staff on January 4 prior to the denial of Chief Sund's request for National Guard backup?

6) Lawmakers to Pelosi: "What conversations and what guidance did you and your staff give the Sergeant at Arms leading up to January 6th specific to the security posture of the campus?"

7) Lawmakers to Pelosi: "What conversations did you have during the attack on the Capitol and what response did you give security officials on January 6th when Chief Sund requested National Guard support that required your approval?"

8) Coverup: Congressmen flat-out ask Pelosi: "Why are your House Officers refusing to comply with preservation and production requests to turn over request materials relevant to the events of January 6th?"

9) Pelosi has refused to answer these basic questions for 5 weeks, the senior congressmen say:

"Five weeks have passed since the January 6th attack on the Capitol building, and many important questions about your responsibility for the security of the Capitol remain unanswered."

10) The buck stops with Pelosi: "The Speaker is responsible for all operational decisions made within the House."

Pelosi has centralized control over the House, so she can't escape personal responsibility, the lawmakers note.

11) Pelosi has allowed no bipartisan and bicameral review of security measures before and during the January 6 attack on the Capitol. Instead, Pelosi fired the sergeant at arms, forced the resignation of the Capitol Police chief, and appointed her own person to lead a review.

12) Pelosi's actions thus had self-serving motivations, and not the interests of the House, the Capitol, or the public:

"These decisions were made in a partisan manner without any consultation ... and therefore raise questions about the political motivations of your decisions."

13) Capitol Police Sund requested National Guard activation "ahead of the January 6th Joint Session of Congress," but the House Sergeant at Arms (SAA) declined, saying it would look bad and that there was no "intelligence" to require added security, the congressmen remind Pelosi.

14) "on January 6th in the middle of the on-going attack of the Capitol, Chief Sund again notified the SAA of his request for approval to authorize the National Guard. It took over an hour for his request to be approved" because the SAA required an OK from Pelosi & her designees.

15) The next day, January 7, Pelosi publicly called for US Capitol Police Chief Sund to resign because he "hasn't called us since this happened."

Sund says that this was not true, and that he briefed Pelosi twice on January 6.

16) Pelosi's refusal to have a bipartisan, bicameral investigation raises suspicions about a coverup. So does her unilateral appointment of a general to lead an investigation. This raises suspicions about Pelosi influencing the findings and conclusions.

17) Pelosi and her deputies have shown "obstruction and inability to procure and preserve information" necessary for independent oversight of the January 6 events.

Requests for information were repeatedly "denied."

Lawmakers tell Pelosi that she is responsible for coverup.

18) The lawmakers tell Pelosi that she has "fabricated" concerns about the US Capitol, and that she has personally violated her own procedures.

My take on this is that Speaker Nancy Pelosi is covering up the reasons for security lapses on January 6. She surely has a reason.
