.@Facebook has now allowed rumors to spread on their platforms that have touched off a genocide and, likely soon, yet another.
@youtube has allowed QAnon and the anti-vaccine movement to grow from fringe theories to massive movements.
And now, after Parler (along with Facebook) enabled militia groups to literally plan the overthrow of the US government and almost succeed, @SkySilkCloud is allowing it back online using their servers.
We have learned nothing.
In the quest for engagement and advertising dollars and attention, we have lost our collective minds.
This is not, nor has it ever been about free speech, it has been about money and power.
The ability to control the narrative and the ability to squeeze money out of it.
We’ve always had free speech in this country and have never had worldwide cults form in mere months or the murders of 52 Muslims live-streamed to millions of the ability for militia groups to coordinate an Insurrection of the government across multiple states.
The problem is that tech companies still don’t get it. They continue to allow people with the very worst of intentions to take advantage of their platforms in exchange for engagement.
Here’s the thing, though:
Quarterly earnings don’t mean a thing if society crumbles.

.@Verizon, one of Fox’s biggest advertisers, made a strong statement in support of racial justice, but they hand Fox millions to lie about George Floyd and defend white supremacists.
.@gm and @cadillac, major sponsors of Fox News, gave $10 million to fund racial justice. Today, they continue to sponsor Fox shows which say Black Lives Matter has torn the fabric of our country.
Everyone is rightly horrified by Marjorie Taylor Greene, but no one is talking about is that she’s the first Congressperson whose worldview was created by being extremely online.
She’s a mix of 8Chan, InfoWars, Breitbart, The Daily Wire and The Daily Stormer and leans on each at different times or all at the same time.
You literally cannot achieve this type of worldview without being on social networks and message boards all day long.
She’s now being asked questions about these ideas because she’s now in the real world, in government, where they are not (yet) mainstreamed and she’s struggling with it because she’s not posting on @facebook.
None of these things make sense to people who aren’t extremely online.
If you weren’t aware, Alex Jones has an @amazon storefront. That’s right. Amazon helps a person who claims he planned the Insurrection and has harassed Sandy Hook parents. Not only that, they PROFIT from it.
