1/ Elrond is building something new.
As things grow, trolls come along.

Most times you focus on building & simply ignore trolls.
But sometimes, you engage to clarify things.

The only way to win is through facts, good will, and most important, *more progress*.
2/ It is in trolls nature to dwell in the shadows, taking clear and well known facts, and distorting them for different agendas.

But truth has a way of coming to light. When it does, it will either set them free, or leave them harmless by disarming them.
3/ At Elrond, we encourage everyone to examine the facts, and engage in thoughtful conversations.

*It helps to be kind. Going the extra mile is how Elrond grew to such a large community.*

It's what will keep Elrond growing.

Time to take a look at the Elrond facts.
4/ (1) Elrond has one of the most hardcore teams in the space. Engineers, researchers, math olympiads and entrepreneurs, w/ PhD in CS and backgrounds at companies like intel, microsoft, google, ntt data, joining forces to push blockchain to the next level.
elrond.com/team
5/ (2) Elrond has a large, distributed, and passionate community. 18 languages, more than 30 countries, hundreds of thousands of people, sharing the goal of bringing a breakthrough technology to the market and contributing on a daily basis.
6/ (3) The Elrond team & community have built one of the most scalable blockchains in the world. It is LIVE, open source, and is used by many people and projects around the world.

Github: github.com/ElrondNetwork

Explorer: explorer.elrond.com
7/ Elrond has a fairly wide distribution. There are new users joining the Elrond community every day. To help, to build, to contribute.

Transparent stats about accounts, usage, and holders, including exchange holdings can be viewed below:
growth.elrond.com
8/ Nodes in Elrond had a cost of ~$500 when we first began work. But with healthy progress & adoption, the value of $EGLD grew. And so, node prices grew as well.

But not all users want nodes. This is why delegation is open and easy for all users.
9/ Elrond was built on the principle of progressive decentralization. First, you have to build a robust technology, maintaining a sufficiently decentralized & sufficiently agile pace.

Only after this technology is built, is it useful to proceed to full onchain governance.
10/ Due to its unique distribution, Elrond was from the outset more widely distributed, open, and decentralized, than Bitcoin & Ethereum were at their inception. Satoshi shared his vision & code with a few people at first, same with Vitalik.

But over time their communities grew.
11/ Indeed, Elrond started with a larger community than BTC & ETH, and it's now more distributed & decentralized than 99.9% projects in the space.

With phase 3 staking, we are transitioning to *full decentralization* with the network run entirely by the community.
12/ Going one step further, the top 10 largest accounts in Elrond are exchanges. As they are in almost any other blockchain.

Over time, lots of people deposit money on exchanges because they want to, well, exchange them.

Exchange accounts verifiable:
growth.elrond.com
13/ The Elrond ecosystem is advancing at a rapid pace, onboarding many new devs and projects. In fact we have more than 120 partners integrating or building on the Elrond network. elrondpartners.com
14/ Perhaps the most exciting hypergrowth trajectory is painted by @getmaiar, the social money app, just launched on Elrond.

In less than 2 weeks, more than 183k users have joined, more than 200k accounts have been created, and more than 1.5 million tx have been processed.
15/ This app is the best stress testing tool for the Elrond network: distributed DNS, attestation, meta transactions, all built and now live on the Elrond VM.

The intuitive simplicity and deep technical integration of @getMaiar, will enable us to onboard the next billion people.
16/ Elrond is here to stay. Having all these elements live is remarkable.

Open source, auditable and verifiable by anyone in the world.

It’s why we believe Elrond will power the internet of money.
elrond.com/blog/its-time-…
17/ To be clear, Elrond is not a bitcoin or ethereum killer. This is a zero-sum, loser’s game.

We are complementary to both, aiming to bring in the next major wave of adoption that will benefit the entire ecosystem.
18/ Earth needs a new financial system.

This is our goal with Elrond & Maiar.

It’s not about patching a broken zero sum financial game, but creating a new positive sum game. Digital, decentralized, and open to anyone in the world.

There is no competition.
Every effort matters.
19/ This is the time build. This is the time to grow.

But alas we should not worry too much about trolls.

It's facts, kindness and more progress, that will push things forward.

And at Elrond, we will strive hard for all of those.

1/ Humanity *needs* (a) a high bandwidth, low latency financial system, (b) that is decentralized, and (c) accessible to anyone, anywhere.

This is a high impact, multi trillion dollar opportunity, able to dramatically improve ppls's lives across the world.

2/ Blockchain technology is at an inflexion point. On the cusp of unlocking a massive societal improvement. Perhaps the biggest since the invention of the internet.

#bitcoin and crypto are just its first applications.
3/ The next 2-3 years will see the most rapid financial transformation - from traditional 40 years old slow, deprecated, legacy technology, to state of the art blockchains, enabling transactions at the speed and scale of the internet.

After many years of work, ETH 2.0 has announced an update: ETH 2.0 - Phase 0.

But after a careful review it seems the excitement is overblown, and the actual progress almost trivial compared to that needed to have ETH 2.0 in production.

Here's a contrarian view & solution. 👇
First, let's set the context: Ethereum's fundamental problem is scalability: despite a 50$ billion valuation, ETH cannot process more than 15 transactions/sec(!).

In a high bandwidth internet era, this is akin to the earliest versions of 56k dialup modems.
I say fundamental problem, because unlike most other problems, this architecture limitation is practically impossible to be fixed. Thus, paradoxically, the higher an adoption ETH gets, the more obvious and painful this fundamental limitation becomes.

1/ For the last 3 years the Elrond team has been pushing hard to deliver an internet scale blockchain -- the most scalable blockchain architecture in the world.

The network is LIVE, and we've gathered one of the strongest communities in the ecosystem.

Here's a context thread 👇
2/ - NOT INVESTMENT ADVICE -

TECHNOLOGIES WITH MASSIVE IMPACT

Truly groundbreaking technology is rare, and it usually takes one working killer application to reveal its utility and drive massive adoption. Then, it gradually reshapes the world around us.
3/ Electric current powers all technology today, but it was the lightbulb that paved the way for its immediate adoption; the internet made all information accessible and enabled instant global communication, but it was the browser that brought millions of users to the internet.

Elrond has come far, we’ve reached milestones which set Elrond on a unique, challenging and revolutionary trajectory.

But what are we really aiming for?
What’s next for Elrond network, Maiar and eGold?

Important context thread below 🔥
CONTEXT

The level of complexity in building one of the most advanced blockchain architectures to date, and improving everything 1000x in throughput, execution speed, and transaction cost, compared to iterations like BTC or ETH, is painfully challenging yet immensely gratifying.
Attempting to simultaneously build an innovative, simple and delightful user interface, that seamlessly integrates with this architecture to offer global near-instant transfer of value at negligible cost, amplifies the difficulty level considerably.

1/ Thesis: we are on the verge of entering a new blockchain era - one of simple, global, near instant, and inexpensive value transfer, for anyone, anywhere.

But how, you may ask?

For this we've built Elrond, the internet scale blockchain
2/ The internet serves as the most useful metaphor of how blockchain adoption will likely play out.

Looking back, there are 2 important inflexion points in the early days of the web: 🌎

upgrade100.com/updates/somewh…
3/

(1) the first inflexion point was the browser - which simplified things via point & click, dramatically lowering the barrier to entry, and enabling tens of millions of people to come online (thanks for Netscape @pmarca ).
