The Vimana of Brihadisvara Temple of Tanjore is an Archrtectural Wonder as the 43,000 tons of granaite stone held together by dry masonary raiesd to a height of 60.96m.
It is the tallest Vimana in Bharata,is topped by a 80 ton monolitic granaite top stone.
This 80 ton square granite slab of 25.6×25.6 ft is believed to have been hauled up by 6 km ramp.
The vimana is crowned with a copper pot or Kalasa plated with 24 kg of pure Gold.

Water droplets accumulated on the ceiling are believed to predict about good or bad monsoon season.
If the size of water droplets is big, it is believed that there will be good rainfall and if it is small,then drought may occur.Many research teams & scientists have visited this Temple to understand the phenomenon but no concrete conclusion has been drawn.
Devotees are mostly local farmers offer prayers for good monsoon and comes to see water droplets in the ceiling & pull the chariot during Janmastami fair.
