A thread (brain dump) cause I can’t sleep and I’m finding a certain recent NY / member of the “literati” or “intellectual” spooky as hell. They kinda remind me of the stereotypical mean girls. Maybe that’s what’s keeping me up. 😆 They’re baaa-aaack!

Why does it appear that so many seem to delight in public humiliation, cruelty and even the implication of “cancelation?” Do some never outgrow it? The more people claim cancel culture is a myth the darker the fantasy that seems to drive it appears (to me.)

The Maoist/Stalinist lite meets Freddie Kruger LARP would be nothing if the “performative” on display didn’t have a history of well, leading to huge body counts frankly.

Is this simply how poorly postmodernism (the world view) explains itself? What was said as a predictive warning, these people seem to use as a sort of entitled mannerist play. Unfortunately no one tells these “kids” no.

Perhaps “no” was assumed instinctual when play or imaginary theories of violence start to become violent. I mean, here we are right? The luxury of safety starts turning into a source for nominees for the Darwin Awards 😟.

And much like our “buddy” Foucault who found himself having to put his little red book in the trash bin (what a privilege that he could eh? must have been a white male thing 😉) some people are noticing just how truly powerful masquerades of power are.

They thought they were developing a world view and a way to free minds; especially creativity. For awhile it seemed to do just that. But...

Foucault (and friends) got the nature of those who hide their authoritarianism right. What they seem to have failed at, imho, (and so have

Never have faith in a philosophy that sees humanism as a crutch when confronting power is my (and writers like Ionesco’s) advice. I think. Or do. Depends on the result you want I suppose. Unfortunately humanity kinda has no choice after the choice is made.

We can’t escape the delusion (the result) some apparently want. Creativity without humanism undervalues what humans uniquely do, and mortality’s part in that.

Or maybe it’s just that intellectual sadism is the new kink. Or maybe grasping to understand willful or apathy to public cruelty is kinda how this whole mess got started though, isn’t it?
