Erratum Hindi not Hindu. 22 languages are protected languages in India and all languages and scripts in Pakistan are preserved as a fundamental right in Pakistan. 4. Bengali was one of the two official languages till 1971. 5. Urdu became the national language in 1973.
Finally while all provinces can and should have their languages and scripts - a fundamental right under the Pakistani constitution- the state/official languages can only be English and Urdu for the simple reason: a state language should be understood in all provinces.
