Pakistan owes so much to Ahmadis, whether you want to admit it or not. Jinnah depended on them so much during creation of the country. And it was the Ahmadis who were always there, first on the scene the Furqan Battalion in Kashmir. It was an Ahmadi who got you UN Resolutions con
It was an Ahmadi who founded Pakistan's space program and laid the basis for nuclear physics in the country. It was an Ahmadi who was the leading economic planner for Pakistan at the time that the economy grew at 7 or 8 percent.
It was an Ahmadi general who died in battle for Pakistan. An Ahmadi who became the first president of Azad Kashmir. Pakistan owes Ahmadis everything. Everything good about Pakistan has an Ahmadi's contribution. Shame on those idiots who are attacking Atif Mian.
Meanwhile the anti-Ahmadi forces were Majlis-e-Ahrar and Jamiat-e-Ulema-Hind. These Mullahs hated Jinnah and hated the Muslim League. Behind the Majlis-e-Ahrar was none other than Maulana Azad who was taking his instructions from the Congress high command.
So yes you declared Ahmadis Non-Muslim in 1974 but that is not contingent on them accepting themselves as Non-Muslim. Read the proceedings. It is for the purposes of law and constitution. Their belief that they are Muslims however is protected by Article 20 of the Constitution.
State should not have gotten into the business of deciding who is what. The state should have followed Jinnah's advice and allowed self identification. Nevertheless 2nd Amendment notwithstanding, you cannot take away Ahmadis' rights as citizens of Pakistan. No excuses for it.
It is the responsibility of the state to ensure that every citizen of Pakistan has equal rights before the law. This also includes complete religious freedom. Ordinance XX of 1984 is a violation of Article 20 of the Constitution. Zaheeruddin v State is a travesty of justice.
Even the Objectives' Resolution - the fountainhead of Islamisation - itself promises that minorities would be allowed to develop their cultures freely and practise their religion without hinderance. For purposes of law you can call Ahmadis Non-Muslim but they cannot be forced to
call themselves Non-Muslim. It is central and a core belief of the Ahmadi doctrine that they are Muslims. That central and core belief of Ahmadis is protected by Article 20 of the Constitution of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan.
So grow up Pakistanis. I am not asking you to consider the Ahmadis Muslims. But who the hell are you to force them to consider themselves Non-Muslims. The Constitution of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan does not give you or your government that power.
The constitutional position after the 2nd Amendment is that Ahmadis are Non-Muslims for the purposes of law and constitution. The constitutional position is not that they can be stopped from practising their religion as they please as Pakistani citizens. Read Article 20.
