Facebook’s rules to combat misinformation & hate speech are subject to the whims & political considerations of its CEO &his policy team leader. Mark Zuckerberg personally didn’t like the punishment so he changed the rules & called for a more nuanced policy & enforcement strategy.
Zuckerberg’s more nuanced policy set off a cascading effect which delayed the company’s efforts to remove right wing militant organizations such as the Oath Keepers. It is a case study in Facebook’s willingness to change its rules to placate the right & avoid political backlash.
Policy guided by Joel Kaplan, VP of global public policy, and Zuckerberg’s whims exerted outsize influence while obstructing content moderation decisions obstructing product rollouts & intervening on behalf of popular conservative figures who have violated Facebook’s rules.
Facebook continually changed the rules to allow abhorrent behavior by the right wing conservatives. We all know how that has turned out.
Cancel culture my a$$. 😡

Former Guy profoundly altered our system of government. Though he was no Washington or Lincoln, Trump, with the help of #GOPComplicitTraitors amended the “informal” Constitution in at least 5 significant ways.

Amendment 1. No president shall be removed from office for treason, bribery or any crime or misdemeanor should a partisan minority of the Senate choose to protect him. Impeachment was intended to be a check on presidential misbehavior;it’s now more like a partisan permission slip ImageImage
Amendment 2. Congressional oversight shall be optional. No congressional subpoena or demand for testimony or documents shall bind a president who chooses to ignore it. From now on, if the president stonewalls Congress—well, too bad for Congress. ImageImage

The majority of Republicans rejected democracy.Americans ought to remember the names of these members who objected to the outcome of a free &fair election, the reps. who stuck by Trump in the impeachment vote &the senators who acquitted him after his trial

First they hid behind obscure interpretations of the Constitution & false claims of voter fraud. Then, even after a violent mob came for them, they chose a pathological liar & would-be authoritarian over the rule of law. This group was willing to delay democracy & obstruct...
...the transfer of power to a duly elected president after their party’s leader incited a riot, they refused to hold him accountable & allowed an attack on their own branch of government to go unpunished.

Research shows that Kamala Harris may be the most targeted American politician on the internet, one who checks every box for the haters of the fever swamps: She's a woman, she's a person of color and she holds power.

Abuse directed at women is often personalized, attacking them based on their appearance &denigrating their intelligence. President Biden gets his share of smears but they tend to focus on his age; Those directed at Harris tend to reference sex, violence or misogynistic accusations
In the first week after Harris was named to the ticket, the sexualized hashtag #(heelsupharris) appeared 35,479 times in Twitter posts. Immediately following the running-mate announcement, false claims about Harris were being shared at least 3,000 times an hour on Twitter.

The US cannot sit idle in the face of such aggression. A STRONG RESPONSE IS LONG OVERDUE.
While Russia appears to be implementing a plan to establish a stronger foothold in Central Asia, the US does not appear to have any coherent strategy in Afghanistan. missoulacurrent.com/opinion/2020/0…
We should stop giving gifts to Putin such as the trump’s June announcement to withdraw 9,500 American soldiers from Germany & its efforts to assist Russia in rejoining the G7. Instead, waivers granted to Russians under the existing U.S. sanctions regime should be revoked.
Additional sanctions should be implemented targeted to those who benefit most from Putin’s regime. RUSSIA NEEDS TO UNDERSTAND THERE WILL BE CONSEQUENCES FOR ITS EFFORTS TO US SOLDIERS!!!

He has no class, no charm, no coolness, no credibility, no compassion, no wit, no warmth, no wisdom, no subtlety, no sensitivity, no self-awareness, no humility, no honour &no grace, all qualities with which his predecessor Mr. Obama was generously blessed

Trump is a troll. And like all trolls, he is never funny and he never laughs; he only crows or jeers.
And scarily, he doesn’t just talk in crude, witless insults – he actually thinks in them. His mind is a simple bot-like algorithm of petty prejudices and knee-jerk nastiness.
Trump’s not even a spoiled rich-boy or a greedy fat-cat.
He’s more a fat white slug. A Jabba the Hutt of privilege.
He is that most unforgivable of all things to the British: a bully. Except when he is among bullies; then he suddenly transforms into a sniveling sidekick instead.

I believe in full equality for women and that means we should be treated as valid targets for criticism. By that standard, how many men throughout history have run hard for office or actively lobbied for a job without being called difficult for doing so?

thedailybeast.com/kamala-harris-…
If we want to get anywhere we have to be ambitious enough to want to get there but strategic enough so that a man either doesn’t know we want to get there or doesn’t feel threatened by our desire to go somewhere he may not have the talent or tenacity to go himself.
#WomenWarriors
The way we can change that is twofold: put more women in power so that our country gets comfortable with the idea of ambitious, powerful women.
The second way we change things: Parents can teach their girls that being ambitious is actually a good thing.
