1/So you think it doesn't matter much, @JonathanChait? Wrong. If we don't understand exactly how the KGB cultivated Trump, something exactly like it will happen again.
2/If we don't punish get to the bottom of it, in effect, we are saying it's perfectly fine for a president of the United States to be an asset for a foreign adversary, and
3/If we don't understand the means through which Trump was compromised, then we are empowering Russia to keep at it and we won't know how to vet candidates properly in the future.
4/If we don't have a serious counterintelligence investigation we won't understand how the Republican Party became a US version of Ukraine's Party of Regions(ie the Putinista party that rubber-stamps pro-Russian policies), or
5/why GOP senators and the vast majority of 70+ million Americans who voted for him still believe Trump won the election, or
6/the breadth or the depth of how Russian money has corrupted American politicians, lobbyists, white shoe lawyers, with Deripaska-funded coal mines in Kentucky for Mitch McConnell and the like
7/ or how the active measures Russia undertook in fueling Qanon became so phenomenally successful, and
8/the fact that via SolarWinds, Russian spies used a software to unleash a virus that spread to 18,000 government and private computer networks, and much, much more.
9/ Yes, Trump is gone from the White House. But the Russians have not gone home, and they are very active in fueling highly destructive right-wing in the US and throughout the West. Now is the time to learn from what went wrong and to make sure it doesn't happen again.

In your dreams, @DonaldJTrumpJr. As I show in American Kompromat, Don, Jr. was no slouch when it came to helping out Daddy be an asset for Russian intelligence.
2/ In Paris, in Oct. 2016, Don,Jr. was paid $50K plus for giving a speech at a French think tank. There was just one prob: the think tank was allegedly a Russian front.
3/But it all ended up swell for Trump father and son when @DonaldJTrumpJr got the talking pts of what the Russians wanted in the Middle East, and
What's the name of the book? American Kompromat! What so controversial? It provides the first detailed narrative about how the KGB cultivated Donald Trump. And who has endorsed it?
AMERICAN KOMPROMAT, my explosive new book on how the KGB cultivated Donald Trump, and much, much more, is out now, and getting raves from:
Author and former CIA operative Robert Baer, who calls it "a bombshell."
Garry Kasparov @Kasparov63 (Chairman of @Renew_Democracy), who recommends the book “to understand why the danger to American democracy is far from over.”
On Jan. 26, @DuttonBooks will publish my newest book, American Kompromat: How the KGB Cultivated Donald Trump, and Related Tales of Sex, Greed, Power, and Treachery.
Pre-order now: bit.ly/AmericanKompro… /1
Based on interviews with ex-officials of the KGB, CIA, and FBI, it tells how a relatively insignificant targeting operation by the KGB roughly 40 years ago triggered a sequence of intel protocols leading to the cultivation of Donald Trump as a Russian asset. 2/
It tells, for the first time, how active measure operations by Russian intelligence were designed to disguise the origin of Trump’s ties to Russia./3
2/As I reported in #HouseofTrump, FBI files asserted that Kislin was tied to the infamous Russian mobster Vyachslav Ivankov. Trump's ties to Kislin dated back to the late 70s when he bought 100s of TVs from him for the Grand Hyatt.
3/ Kislin's alleged ties to Russian Mafia notwithstanding, Trump got him to assist in issuing mortgages for condos in Trump World Tower
4/Kislin partner Tamir Sapir played a key role in bailing out Trump by partnering w Bayrock and helping fund the ill-fated Trump SoHo. Meanwhile, Kislin was a significant contributor to Giuliani who appted him to NYC's Economic Dev't Corp.
