I think a lot of authentic leftists have warped perspectives on right libertarians, likely because they don't spend any time in right libertarian spaces (the reverse is also true, but that's not important rn).
Like, there is this idea that libertarians are mostly weed liking conservatives, but honestly, based on my interactions with them it really isn't that simple.
For example many libertarians are authentically anti-bigotry. I've known many libertarians who are more socially progressive than liberals/self described progressives.
And many of them are authentically anti state. By focusing on the conservative type libertarians, we obscure the real problems with libertarianism.
Libertarian capitalism isn't bad because its adherents are bigoted. It's not bad because its adherents aren't genuine with their beliefs. It's bad because it's based on an inadequate analysis of capitalist modernity.
Because it doesn't understand capitalism's role in generating unfreedom and perpetuating the existence of the state and imperialism.
Because it doesn't contend with capitalism's impact on the ecosphere, or the arbitrary and restrictive nature of private property.
Libertarianism is best critiqued by attacking the roots of the ideologies that underlie it, whether it's Lockean liberalism, Randian Objectivism, or any of their derivatives.
Objectivism isn't bad because Ayn Rand basically formed her own personality cult and was incredibly anti-indigenous. Objectivism is bad because it bastardizes egoism and self will, atomizes man, and fails to comprehend how capitalism opposes self interest.
Right libertarian ideologies are deeply flawed on their own terms. There really is no need to misrepresent them or assign beliefs to right libertarians that really are pretty uncommon among them. So stop doing that.
