About 14yrs ago, a young lady joined my dept. I was a junior manager then. She was punctual, intelligent & just odd. She had zero social skills. Didn't talk to anyone, wouldn't greet or respond to greetings. Many didn't get along with her. With time she became the "office gossip"
One day she took her "craze" too far and was deemed insubordinate to the HOD. She was sacked and everyone heaved a sigh of relief. A few weeks later we found out from a family member that she had been suffering from clinical depression triggered by abuse. She was a sick girl.
The knowledge of her mental health changed everything. Staff all of a sudden had a different perception of her. We wanted a do over so we can show love, empathy & kindness. But it was too late. Had we known what she was going through, our attitude towards her wldve been different
Such is the power of knowledge. No one ever gets to see both sides of the coin at once, we only get to see a piece or a side. Our POV and reactions to things and people is usually dependent on where we are standing. It doesn't make us right but it also doesn't mean we are wrong.
It's a mistake to think that people who are critical don't have a point or that those who are supportive are sycophants. People typically speak from the side of the coin they see & their experience while seeing it. The key is - acknowledge their view but show there's another side
When you do, you will find out that not only could you have a change of perspective by seeing things from the other side but that there are areas of convergence you can leverage on. After all, every coin has an edge aka "the third side". Without which it can't stand on its own.

‘Surely you need guidance to wage war, and victory is won through many advisors.’
Proverbs 24:6 NIVUK
1. Solomon said, ‘Strategic planning is the key to warfare; to win, you need a lot of good counsel’ (v. 6). There are wise & experienced people around who are willing to help you, so get together with them periodically & brainstorm. Make sure everyone involved knows there are no

‘My conscience [enlightened and prompted] by the Holy Spirit bearing witness with me.’
Romans 9:1 AMPC
1. Paul writes: ‘My conscience [enlightened and prompted] by the Holy Spirit bearing witness with me.’ Note that when the Holy Spirit speaks to your conscience, two things happen. First, He illuminates your heart with the truth. Second, He prompts you about what to do.
2. Some things may be ‘right’ for others and be ‘wrong’ for you. Why? Because God has a particular plan for your life and He doesn’t want you to be negatively influenced, or even derailed. Read the following Scriptures and consider them prayerfully: ‘Therefore I always exercise..

1. Pain is an inevitable part of life and growth; a beneficial part! Stop and consider some of its benefits: 1) It lets you know when there’s something wrong in your body that needs to be made right. 2) It forces you to acknowledge a condition you didn’t know about; one that cld

I have read tweets of people questioning why the FG asked States to set up the Judicial Panel of Inquiry citing the example of OBJ's Oputa Panel. Well this is why you need a bit of history.
The Human Rights Violations Investigation Commission (aka The Oputa Panel) was created..
...in 1999 by President Obasanjo with the mandate to "investigate human rights abuses during the period of military rule from 1984 to 1999 and to work towards reconciliation of the various communities and groups of people that were in conflict with one another under military rule
The commission submitted its final report to OBJ in 2002 and it's recommendations were made public in 2005 by 2 activist groups. Now for the close to 2yrs the panel sat (even though it shd have been for only 3mths), some ex-military rulers like IBB refused to appear on the panel.
‘The thoughts of the righteous are right.’
Proverbs 12:5 NKJV
1. Your mind can work for you or against you. When it works for you, it helps you to stay positive, reach your goals & enjoy each day. But when it works against you, it can make you negative & discouraged, hold you back & cause you to think thoughts that result in self-sabotage.
2. So teach your mind to work for you instead of against you. An important way to do this is to make an intentional decision that you’ll begin to think positively – in terms of faith and not fear. Now, your brain won’t be able to fulfil this new role overnight.
