There's justifiable concern over Biden opening HHS influx shelters. Even an HHS official told us "none of us want to open influx facilities." It's also important to understand how they relate to and differ from the Border Patrol facility I saw kids caged in during separations.
Here's our reporting -- with @JuliaEAinsley -- on Biden opening Carrizo Springs and the possibility of seeing more temporary influx shelters like it. nbcnews.com/politics/immig…

BREAKING: In new court filing, lawyers say they still haven't reached parents of 506 children separated by Trump admin. Of the 506:

➡️ Parents of 322 kids were deported
➡️Parents of 168 are believed to be in the U.S.
➡️ There is no contact information for parents of 16 kids
The last time there was joint status report, in January ahead of Inaugration Day, parents of 611 children had not yet been reached. So lawyers have been able to make contact with parents of 105 kids who were separated by Trump since then.

Here’s a discussion from earlier this month on whether there will be accountability for family separations under the Biden admin.
From the border, also this month, our exclusive reporting on the twice-delayed family separation task force.

Today L.A. cancelled 12.5K vaccination appointments due to weather-caused shipment delays.

In my new @peacockTV series "Street Level U.S.A." we look at how, despite locking down early and hard, L.A. became a COVID hotspot.

Streams tonight 10PM ET on The Choice, only on Peacock.
We've been reporting for months on how inequality is fueling Los Angeles' extreme COVID crisis.

Tonight on @peacockTV we'll talk to California Surgeon General @DrBurkeHarris, @SenAlexPadilla, @RobertGarcia and more about how. Street Level U.S.A. with Jacob Soboroff. Streaming on Peacoc
I joined @morningmika and @WillieGeist on @Morning_Joe to preview the show and our visit to Long Beach, where despite vaccine challenges elsewhere in L.A., @RobertGarcia is prioritizing teachers and other essential workers. His constituents are thrilled.

President Biden will sign immigration-related executive orders, including one he promised during the campaign to create a family separation reunification task force, at 5PM ET Tuesday in the Oval Office with VP Harris present, according to the White House.
A senior administration official said the task force will be responsible for "identifying all minor children that were separated from their parents or legal guardians at the U.S.-Mexico border due to Trump's 'zero tolerance' policy." nbcnews.com/politics/immig…
I asked whether those separated before “zero tolerance” would be eligible for reunification. SAO said task force would consider families separated under pilot, evaluating on "individual basis” for “preference of the family” and “well-being of children." nbcnews.com/politics/immig…
