The current federal minimum wage is a starvation wage. It keeps families trapped in poverty, erases the dignity of their work, and allows billionaires and big corporations to exploit workers. Workers need – and deserve – a federal minimum wage of $15 an hour.
We strongly disagree with the Senate Parliamentarian's advisory ruling on the $15 minimum wage. The White House and Senate leadership can and should still include the $15 minimum wage increase in the pandemic relief package.
We cannot allow the advisory opinion of an unelected parliamentarian and Republican obstructionism stop us from delivering on our promise to voters. Workers are counting on us to #FightFor15 and finally #RaiseTheWage for millions.
Tonight's ruling only makes it more clear than ever that the Senate must reform its archaic rules, including reforming the filibuster to allow populist and necessary policies like the $15 minimum wage to pass with a majority of the Senate.
Raising the federal minimum wage to $15 remains a top priority for House progressives. We will continue working with our Senate allies and the Biden Admin to pursue every avenue available to us to guarantee a minimum wage for all workers of $15 an hour. progressives.house.gov/press-releases…

THREAD -- Former USPS Governor David Williams provided explosive testimony at our @USProgressives hearing yesterday. He documented a corrupt, long-running sabotage of USPS by right-wing officials seeking to destroy the postal service as a public good.
First, he told us that Secretary Mnuchin sought intrusive control over core USPS operations that the USPS itself deemed to be illegal. nytimes.com/2020/08/20/us/…
He also said that Mnuchin also sought to impose a pricing practice that “would be ruinous for the Postal Service” and significantly impair its ability to compete in the package delivery market.
