AN IMPORTANT THREAD ON TODAY'S ALEX SALMOND EVIDENCE SESSION.
12.30pm BBC parliament channel.
Also livestreamed here.
scottishparliament.tv/channel/commit…

1/11
This is the FIRST TIME Alex has spoken since his trial almost a year ago. He kept entirely silent.

By contrast Sturgeon was frantically all over the airwaves, trashing his reputation, demeaning the jury and claiming that things he vehemently denied in court really happened.
2/11
Alex is the ONLY WITNESS on his side of the story.
Every other witness has been a government witness.
Every government witness bar one has had subsequently to correct lies in their testimony - only when exposed as documents dribble out. 3/11
The only non-government witnesses allowed have been the trade union, bound to take the part of those members who joined in accusations against Alex. No witnesses likely to support Alex side of the story have been allowed.
4/11
It did not have to be like that. The Committee could have called independent legal witnesses like Prof Alistair Bonnington and Prof Robert Black. They could have called Professors of Government. They could have called Roddy Dunlop QC.
5/11
They could have called legal rights NGOs. They should have called Rape Crisis Scotland and asked about their direct access into ministerial offices and Crown Office throughout the entire process and their role in co-ordinating accusers.
6/11
Alex is not only the sole witness before this committee to his side of the story - the side judged the truth by both the Court of Session and a High Court jury.
He also has one and a half hands tied behind his back.
7/11
The Crown Office and SNP parliamentarians have between them colluded to exclude the evidence of Geoff Aberdein and the key messages involving Murrell, Ruddick etc. which prove the collusion to get up a false case against him.
He is not allowed to mention excluded items.
8/11
In practice he may be hard to stop. Expect Fabiani to try to stop him and committee members straying into excluded evidence.
And remember the purpose of the exclusions is 100% to protect Nicola's role in concocting the entire affair.
9/11
I shall be surprised if we don't see Alex' microphone muted to prevent his giving evidence at key points. Expect also meandering, filibustering, irrelevant questions from the SNP committee members.
10/11
Finally this is not a judicial inquiry and he is appearing before particularly slippery politicians. There is no sense in which this is a fair impartial panel.
Watch for information to make up your own mind, but if you are depending on the verdict of the committee you are daft.

Nobody should be commenting on Alex Salmond's new evidence about Sturgeon lying to Parliament without first reading the Salmond letter IN FULL.
wingsoverscotland.com/hiroshima-non-…

This confirms two facts first reported on my blog, in detail. (1/5)
Geoff Aberdein's meeting with Nicola Sturgeon on 29 March 2018 was pre-arranged by Sturgeon's Chief of Staff, Liz Lloyd from early March, specifically to discuss the allegations against Alex.
Sturgeon's claim that this meeting occurred because Aberdein "happened to be" (2/5)
in Parliament and just bumped into one of her staff, is a straight out lie by Sturgeon, as is the claim she then knew nothing of the allegations . As I also reported, Aberdein had consulted Kevin Pringle and Duncan Hamilton QC about the meeting AT THE TIME,

@sarahkendzior too many dead laptops and mobile phones have passed and lost contact details for you.
US Government at the Assange hearing is depending heavily on the Rosen case and declaring its right to prosecute journalists under the Espionage Act.
It has even argued explicitly and multiple times that the NYT Pentagon Papers Supreme Court judgement says in the dicta (Judge's comments) that the NYT could be published under the Espionage Act. This administration is going way past anything done before even by Nixon.
But because it's Assange, the liberal media is paying no attention at all to the detail of a huge threat, and instead relying on Justice Dept press releases saying "no threat to real journalists" which is the opposite of what they are actually arguing in court.

I have the most serious concerns about the state propaganda machine giving yet another platform to discredited anonymous accusers, rejected by a jury after independent third party eye-witnesses repudiated their claims.
Anonymity for sexual abuse accusers was not designed so after trial they could continue a campaign against an innocent man and attack the jury's verdict while their identities are protected on pain of imprisonment.
Particularly where the women hold very senior positions of power and influence within the Scottish government or SNP apparatus themselves: and there is very definite evidence of collusion to fit-up Alex Salmond.

@adamrmcvey many of us believe fencing off the entire heart of Edinburgh as an expensive to enter "concert arena" is fundamentally wrong and entirely at variance with the true spirit of Hogmanay, which is about roaming freely and first footing.
We are also worried about the amount of money being made by Underbelly, a London company run by two Old Etonians, who are incredibly given full access control of our entire city centre and a monopoly on vastly overpriced food and drink stalls.
A pop concert for those who want it can be held without designating 16 public streets - including Princes St - as a pay to enter arena. There are top class Scottish companies with substantial events experience; there are local food and beverage businesses who would love a chance.
