Judge Carl Nichols, uses phrase I think bespeaking his generation, says defendant was right there as the crowd was 'wailing on' police. Prosecutor says she abetted man who broke window in Capitol: 'She has her hands on him. She’s touching him and directing him.'
Judge ruling now. Rebuttal presumption of detention applies because depredation charge carries up to 10 years.
Judge says evidence against Bisignano is 'very strong.' (BTW, I should've said 'whaling' above.) Says she has also attended events to 'promote outrage and degrade others.'
'The statutory offenses don't adequately encompass the seriousness of Ms. Bisignano's conduct.' But judge says risk of future dangerousness, if put under strict conditions, is limited. 'This is in many ways a unique event,' he says of 1/6. She will be released with conditions.
