We asked our followers in Texas to share their stories from the power outages that battered the state.

From studying for the bar exam in the car to sleeping in a dog-boarding facility, here is how some of you dealt with the storm reut.rs/37QOQrj 👇 1/9
Beth and Hunter Bowen lost power for 72 hours. The family of four and their two pets hunkered down at the vet clinic and boarding facility where Hunter works, among animals and other staff members 2/9
.@morgothedrelb and her daughter and grandchildren were just starting to get back on their feet after Hurricane Harvey devastated the Houston area in 2017. And after nearly a year living with the pandemic, she says the family was feeling 'disaster fatigue' 3/9
After relocating to her mother’s house, where the power turned back on, @neya1282 ended up in the E.R. with a second-degree burn. With no running water, nurses had to improvise. ‘We’re used to having boil-water orders after hurricanes, but you could still flush toilets.’ 4/9
On the coldest night of the storm, Sarah and Sean Stepleton of Houston and their children packed into a queen-sized bed to keep warm as icicles formed inside the windows of their apartment. Sarah says she'll remember how neighbors turned to help each other 5/9
.@mundorodarte and his wife endured 38 hours without power and water while caring for their three children, aged 3, 2 and 4 months. The biggest challenge, he said, was not knowing the best way to keep them safe. 6/9
‘The biggest problem was … being so close to freezing all the time.’ @voodoomedic and his family huddled next to pots of hot water in an attempt to keep warm 7/9
.@cierrakenyon had been preparing for the bar exam, which was just days away. Her phone and computer had died, so she studied in her car for hours with a paperback study book. Exhausted and alone, she remembers thinking: ‘How am I going to take the exam in this state?’ 8/9
