First, @PressSec locks out everyone but the wires, TV networks & winners of a weekly “lottery.”

Now even if I “win” a daily slot to talk to the people I cover, it costs $170 but the White House pays for pool members like @AP (employer of @whca prez @ZekeJMiller), @Reuters...
...@business (all of which are in the pool EVERY DAY), the TV/radio networks (one of which has two @whca board members working for it) and other deep-pocketed outlets?

This is wrong and if @whca officers actually cared about advocating for all journalists instead of rigging...
...everything to benefit themselves and their employers they would take a stand and tell @PressSec that there will be no events covered by a pool unless she restores everyone’s ability to do their job.

NEW: Confidantes say Donald Trump's plan to keep teasing a 2024 run is at least in part meant to make state or federal authorities think twice about issuing indictments he could cast as part of an attempt to keep him from reclaiming the presidency. independent.co.uk/voices/trump-2…
Foremost on Trump's mind is a probe run by @ManhattanDA Cyrus Vance, who recently hired a crack team of forensic accountants and an experienced organized crime prosecutor. independent.co.uk/voices/trump-2…
Ex-federal prosecutor @glennkirschner2 says Vance's recent moves indicate that charges are imminent: "I don’t think Cy Vance would have spent considerable state resources to hire expert forensic accountants unless he was moving toward indictment & trial” independent.co.uk/voices/trump-2…

Hi, David Schoen.

First off, your client's aide (a known liar working for a known liar) denying a story for which I had multiple sources does not refute, & your client/his aide's LONG record of denying stories that were later confirmed as true (see Daniels, Stormy), actually...
...even more credibility to the reporting.

Second, the date is February 12, 2021.

I worked for Sputnik for a six-month period in 2017. That's not "recent."

What's more, I was fired from that job because of my *refusal* to promote the a conspiracy theory your client's media...

NEW: Current and former House staffers say @HouseDemocrats push to kick @RepMTG off committees gave @GOPLeader exactly what he wanted — precedent and grievance.

One GOP staffer said Democrats’ response to Greene was “entirely predictable” and described McCarthy’s reaction in blunt terms: “Kevin is just about as happy as a pig in s**t right now.” independent.co.uk/voices/marjori…
Ex-@GOPoversight spox @kurtbardella said @GOPLeader “allowed the Democrats to do his dirty work for him rather than address it directly.” independent.co.uk/voices/marjori…

Luke does a good job of making a case for why substack is good for many writers and subscribers here, but I would just like to point out that starting one's own newsletter product is not a viable option for the vast majority of folks writing about DC politics/policy because.. 1/

NEW: Voting rights legislation is a priority for @HouseDemocrats, @SenateDems, and the Biden @WhiteHouse, but Republicans have already started trying to roll back the voting methods Democrats to take control of Washington last year. independent.co.uk/voices/mitch-m…
Ex-@GOP Chair @MichaelSteele says efforts to restrict the ballot are par for the course for the party he once led: "“It is consistent with what we've seen from some members of my party in various states over the last 10 years or so, if not more." independent.co.uk/voices/mitch-m…
“This is an extension of the fear that Republicans have that they can't win without tipping the scales in their favor, whether it’s draconian measures on voter ID...the locations of polling places, or absentee balloting," @MichaelSteele said. independent.co.uk/voices/mitch-m…
