It's no secret Levine is a proponent of the "affirmative" model of pediatric transition, as demonstrated in the video described in this quoted tweet. Among other things, Levine thinks teens living on the street should be prescribed cross-sex hormones. 2/n

Levine also says in the 2017 speech that under-18s can and should in some cases be allowed to undergo gender surgeries. But Levine is hardly alone in the "affirmative" clinician crowd... 3/n

One thing we do know: Genital surgeries for minors are already happening in the US; they have been for years. in the below thread, you can see a 2017 paper "Age is Just a Number" where multiple surgeons discuss performing under-18 vaginoplasty. 10/n

As the US Senate decides whether Rachel Levine will be confirmed, the question remains: Does Levine agree such underage surgeries are good medical practice?
