Was watching American Pie the other day. Never have been a big fan of the movie. But watching it now I'm struck by the realization that the kind of apolitical, carefree, blissfully ignorant experience portrayed in that movie of young people is increasingly impossible 1/

I didn't find AP all that interesting because it was just a crass, satirical version of my own life. But now that this kind of experience is increasingly difficult to have because everything is political and kids literally grow up faster, it's clear something is missing 4/

And the movie is clearly satirical. The characters are just "dumb dudes" trying to get laid, but ultimately they all want (except Stiffler lmao) and get something more than promiscuity. Now we become the satire: promiscuity is point and also men *are* dumb trash 5/
