Please RT if you agree with the points I will make in this thread
@GSCinemas@TGVCinemas 2) If you are not aware, GSC and TGV cinemas have been closed since the start of the MCO 2.0. MBO, a smaller cinema chain, announced the closure of ALL of their cinemas last Oct & the company has gone into liquidation.
The industry has suffered greatly under the COVID crisis.
@GSCinemas@TGVCinemas 3) But wait a minute, you crazy ah, want to go an sit inside a cinema, an enclosed space for up to 2 hours (maybe more if you are watching Avengers Endgame). You want to start a cinema cluster ah? Bodoh punya orang... doktor apajenis ni?
@GSCinemas@TGVCinemas 4) Before you crucify me, consider this... plane rides (enclosed space) lasting more than 2 hours are allowed currently. Restaurants (with enclosed rooms) can seat more than 4 people now. People eat, talk and drink in restaurants.
@GSCinemas@TGVCinemas 5) Gyms are also allowed to operate. Patrons who are working out don't need to wear masks. Some of them grunt and shout, especially when they want to show off how many kgs they are deadlifting...
@GSCinemas@TGVCinemas 6) But in a cinema, you wear a mask at all times (unless eating popcorn or drinking water), you are seated one seat apart, you don't talk to one another (unless you are the inconsiderate type) & you don't move around.
@GSCinemas@TGVCinemas 7) If the govt is really paranoid, they can ask patrons not to laugh (while watching comedies) or not to scream (while watching horror) or not to cry (while watching sad dramas) in order to minimize droplet output in cinemas...
@GSCinemas@TGVCinemas 8) Some public health experts have said that cinemas should be allowed to reopen with strict SOPs observed.
@GSCinemas@TGVCinemas 9) By forcing cinemas to remain closed, the government is jeopardizing the jobs of the cinema operators (including many in the B40 who working as cleaners and attendants in these cinemas)
@GSCinemas@TGVCinemas 10) The government is also doing great harm to the local film industry by keeping cinemas closed because filmmakers would not dare to shoot films if they don’t know when their films can be shown in the cinemas.
@GSCinemas@TGVCinemas 11) If the government is making their policies based on science, as claimed by Senior Minister @azminali then they should allow cinemas in Malaysia to reopen, slowly and carefully, with some or all of the SOPs suggested above.
@GSCinemas@TGVCinemas@AzminAli 12) Sorry, one last point... the cinema operators should show to the govt that their aircon filtering system can sufficient filter and clean the air inside the individual cinemas...

Missing some Tweet in this thread? You can try to
force a refresh
1) I was surprised to receive a "Notice of Demand, Cease & Decist and Intimation of Legal Proceedings" from lawyers representing Dato Gail Phang, Senior Vice President of @Limkokwing_MY on the 4th of September, 2020.
2) In this letter, Dato Gail's lawyers purports that published / republished a tweet that is deemed as defamatory "which could be accessed by the entire nation and the world". I reproduce this tweet below...
3) This must be the first time in Malaysia that an MP is being threatened with defamation over a tweet / retweet. My tweet does not state that I agree or disagree with the views of @IamTheAdeline but merely to say that the authorities in Msia should look into this serious matter.

1. Short thread on my thoughts on Jalil Rasheed (ex-PNB CEO) and his UOL / LSE degree.
2. Before I go into the technicalities on the degree, we should ask the bigger question - why did this suddenly become an issue? Was it because of his job performance? Or cos he was asking questions which made certain people uncomfortable? This is more impt than the degree issue.
3. I have not communicated with Jalil on the reason for his PNB departure of the degree. I don't know what he told the PNB board about his degree i.e. did he clarify that it was an external degree offered via a local institutions (HELP)
Was on @BFMradio to explain why PH nominated @anwaribrahim as our PM candidate. In my view, this does not constitute a U-turn. We thank @chedetofficial for not agreeing to form a govt with UMNO & PAS for principled reason. This is why we asked him to from a new PH govt. (1)
@BFMradio@anwaribrahim@chedetofficial But when he informed PH leaders that he wanted to form a government of individuals not of parties, it was clear that this was an unworkable proposal. This new govt would not have any obligations to the GE14 PH Manifesto & is against the mandate of the people in GE14. (2)
@BFMradio@anwaribrahim@chedetofficial Dr. M would be able to pick anyone he wanted into this cabinet including @AzminAli, who is the main reason for the collapse of the PH government in the first place. This is unacceptable to PH & to many of our supporters and voters too (3)
Will be tweeting some thoughts on my visit to the Malaysia China Kuantan Industrial Park (MCKIP) here today. Please RT if you are interested in reading about this project (it's more than just the so-called "Great Wall of China"!) #MCKIP
Whenever the Kuantan Industrial Park is mentioned in popular conversation, the discussion inevitably gets steered towards the so-called “Great Wall of China” that surrounds the massive Alliance Steel complex.
Yesterday, I visited the Malaysia China Kuantan Industrial Park (MCKIP). The masterplan 4 this area is much more than just the ‘great wall’. If done well, the investments in this industrial park has the potential to transform the whole of Kuantan into a thriving city of industry.
Time to tweet out some of my past media statements on the budget and govt debt to set the context on how much 'cleaning up' we need to do with regards to the govt's balance sheet.
The most recent statement shows how much of debt repayment is 'hidden' in payments other than debt servicing including the infamous Pembinaan PFI. ongkianming.com/2018/01/09/mal…
For those who can't remember, Pembinaan PFI was actually a 'creative' way for the govt to hide DEVEX so that its borrowings won't appear as official govt debt: ongkianming.com/2014/11/18/med…
