1. Hi @jansant & @MargaretSimons. The ‘gatecrashing’ of mainstream political journalism has been happening in USA since Trump. Now it’s here; its jumping off point is MURDOCH of course.

Such a pity Credlin asked a question journos should have. BIG FAIL.
2. I thought hard on the question ‘What is a journalist’ when publishing the work of readers of #Webdiary for @smh online 2001-05. My conclusion: Adherence to the Media Alliance Code of Ethics. A ethical obligations are what defines journalists writing news, analysis or opinion.
3. I wanted to publish citizen journalism on #Webdiary, and my only requirement was that each contributor pledge to abide by Webdiary’s code of ethics, which I adapted from the @meaa code for journalists in our union.

1. I’m gunna go mad obsessively Twitter-following the election = anxiety and apocalyptic theories in why Trump will win.

I am now Panicked by the entry of energy policy in the mix. Our nightmare on climate change ensures that.

2. @TimAlberta is a political journo steeped in GOP politics. A must follow, but jeez, writing Biden’s victory analysis before the election makes my Irish bones ache. Lovely piece of writing, and interesting.

3. LOVE IT! Ivanka & Jared work for the Trump Swamp Family. Fine for the boss to maliciously throw baseless mud that Biden is head of a crime family & must be indicted. But tie THEM to Trump’s anti-NY invective & they’ll SUE!!! (Trump can’t be sued for defo while in office.)

1. Rampant political and bureaucratic corruption in Australia DEMANDS a strong #federalicac. The #scottyfromMarketing denial, resistance and delay same tactics from him on banks before the Royal Commission forced on Govt by public pressure. A public duty fail. Latest example.
2. VERY expensive, relentless coverup of Howard Govt corruption at the highest level ongoing by legal intimidation of the Whistleblower of an offical wiretap of East Timor negotiation team on East Timor oil deal crucified.

2. Morrison’s promise of a weak, secret #federalicac is 2 years old and he’s now reduced to a ‘too busy’ excuse. Public interest, voter enthusiasm be damned. He’d rather look pathetic than fulfill his duty to the people and our democracy. Starting to smell bad.

1. OK, Govts have known for a long time that a pandemic was inevitable and Bill Gates warned hard in 2015. Yet it seems as though there’s no Fed Govt Quarantine agency to protect us - huh?

2. We had an Australian Quarantine Service which looked after us in the Spanish Flu pandemic. It was abolished in 2012.

1. Folks, I’m at my new home, Elands on the Bulga Plateau north east of Taree in NSW. Today I joined other locals in the fight to save native forest adjacent to the national park devastated by November’s fires and used by koalas and other fire survivors.
2. Locals in NSW are trying to preserve remnant habitat where they live for flora and fauna after Australia burned, because the NSW Govt won’t.

Ours is Compartment 51 half an hour up the road from my new home. NSW wants to log Tallowwood, Brushbox & Blue Gum for floorboards.
3. Locals in Elands and Wingham (near the coast) gathered this morning at the bridge dividing the national park from State forest to locate scats and scratches so we know what native animals live there now the national park has burned.
