If you're arguing based on facts, I'm happy to listen.
I might challenge the facts, or even accept them but present a different take on them.

But if you're arguing on opinion or, worse, speculation, then I don't want to waste one second on the discussion.
There's no point. :-)
Which is also why I don't waste one sec discussing
<insert party name> is B-team of <insert party name>.

Let's talk facts.
Rahul Gandhi has never held an administrative post, unlike Modi.
Yes, we can debate whether this is a negative or a positive or irrelevant.
But it's a fact.
Let's talk facts.
Delhi Police does not report to Delhi Govt.
Yes, we can debate to what extent this could've hampered Delhi Govt's ability to do more during the pogrom last year (I happen to think they could've done much more).

But this about Delhi Police reporting is a fact.
Everytime I bring up this point that Delhi Police does not report to Delhi Govt, I annoy a whole lot of Cong supporters. :-)
But I'm only stating a fact.
Just because a fact is annoying, doesn't make it invalid. :-)
Be honest, accept it.
Fact is, when Sheila Dixit was CM for 15 years, she had approx 10 years of UPA at the Centre. And the rest of the time was a Vajpayee-BJP Govt.
Not a Modi-BJP Govt.

That's a fact.
One can debate the significance of this in Delhi's governance, given Delhi's complicated structure.
Fact.
AAP Govt (2015-2020) had
- Anti-Corruption wing taken away from them
- MLAs arrested on flimsy charges
- CBI raid on CM
- LG sitting on files for months
and a lot of other stuff obstructing their work.

Whether these actions were legit, can be debated.
But these are facts.
Note that I'm not saying that these actions were not legit.
It's very much possible that LG sat on files for months for genuine reasons.
All I'm saying is, it's a fact that LG sat on files for months.
Now, get into detail, case by case - we'll know whether it was legit or not.
My plea is therefore, let's first try to establish the facts.
In today's manipulated world, even that can be a tricky process.
But it's extremely important to first get the facts, and not fall for propaganda.
And if the facts do support your confirmation bias, good for you! :-)

Ok, I'm going to tweet abt a topic that has been bothering me ever since Delhi was given special status as a State in 1991, with its own Legislative Assembly and Council of Ministers, ostensibly to "recognise its growing population deserved to elect its own representatives". 1/n
This is one of those typical jugaads Indians are good at.
They want to SOMEHOW come up with a solution, while either not thinking it through, or deliberately ensuring they don't lose control.
Cos NO POLITICIAN WANTS TO LOSE CONTROL. 2/n
So we have this hotch-potch where you ostensibly have "empowered" people by letting them choose their own representatives in Delhi.
Yaaay!
And yet, you have retained the most valuable (for YOU) powers - ie control over law & order (police), land and services.
Crooks!

Someone needs to make a list of every way in which AAP was obstructed in its functioning during 2015-2020.
Pls put this down in writing before someone creates a new narrative about that period.
Whatever your opinion, fact is fact - and must be recorded for posterity.
2015-2020:
- Most people watched silently as Modi Govt was bullying AAP's Delhi Govt left, right and centre.
- Cong supporters were anyway smarting from the 0/70 defeat. No way were they going to stand w/ AAP.
- BJP supporters enjoyed Modi's bullying, defending it all the way.
- The neutral observer offered token support to AAP, but was powerless to do anything beyond this.
- Godi media did its job for its masters.

Despite all this, and SO many obstructions, AAP did whatever work it could, and managed to sweep elections in 2020 again.

Modi supporters are constantly taking cheap shots at Rahul Gandhi.
Understandable, cos this takes focus away from Modi/BJP's governance failures.

Why are Cong supporters busy taking cheap shots at Modi all the time?
Why not talk abt the issues BJP doesn't want them to talk abt.
BJP caters very well to its loyal supporters. Even has Koo as an echo chamber now, as if WA and MSM weren't enough.
Will constantly bash the oppn, create fake news, hype up Modi - and it is home for 2024.
Cong has to do the hard running. Tough job on hand, but Cong has no choice.
Forget the diehard bhakts, but there are plenty out there who vote Modi only cos they've fallen for his propaganda. If they knew the truth, they could vote differently.
These are the ppl oppn parties need to educate.
Keep highlighting BJP's governance failures.
Plenty of them.

VHP actively began its Ram Janmabhoomi movement in 1983 before Rajiv Gandhi became PM.
Yes, his Shah Bano & shilanyas steps were both blunders, but even if they hadn't happened, Ayodhya movement was fast gaining ground amongst Hindus.
It was BJP's electoral trump card.
Jan Sangh repeatedly failed to make a mark in elections.
Congress was THAT strong.
Even when they lost power in 1977, they bounced back strongly in 1980.
The only way to defeat them now was to pander to the majority (80% of pop).
Enter VHP & Ram Janmabhoomi.
The rest is history.
So don't you DARE say that BECAUSE Rajiv Gandhi "appeased" Muslim men by challenging the SC Shah Bano judgment, Hindus were "outraged" and the Ayodhya movement happened?
Shah Bano happened in 1985.
Ayodhya movement started in right earnest in 1983.

Aap chronology samjhiye.

Modi is a very smart politician.
Much smarter than many give him credit for.
This, combined with his ruthlessness, utter disregard for the truth or ethics, and an obsessive love for power (and therefore, image) has got him where he is today.
Take his speech yest.
Was targeted at a very specific constituency.
His existing support base, and those warm to him, but possibly w/ a few recent doubts.
This is a BIG number.
As long as he has them w/ him, he's through.
Couldn't care less about his detractors/critics.
Key points of his speech:
1) India has done better than ROW in handling Covid. (Read: Modi is a superior leader).
2) This is cos of right decisions taken by Govt. Lockdown et al. (Read: see above).
3) After Unlock1, unfortunately PEOPLE have become lax. (You cant blame govt!).

Strategy needs nuance and due diligence.
Communication needs absolute clarity.
Execution needs clinical efficiency.
Trial and error is an oft-used, but usually poor, and often very expensive, excuse.

It's a sign of incompetence, more than anything else.

In extremely complex situations (where the alternative is worse), or in low-impact ones, it could be considered.

Otherwise, no.
Before Demo, surely Modi knew 86% of the country's currency would be demonetised?
86%!
And even IT authorities had said barely 6% of seized undisclosed income comes from cash.
Didn't that ring any alarm bells at all?
What due diligence did the govt do?
Did they do any at all?
