Wow, in the "rippling consequences" department, manufacturing has already been stretched thin because of COVID, and now the freeze in Texas shut down the resin production that makes plastic, which means my feed store is like "You order your greenhouse plastic NOW, people!"
Apparently there are now products they can't stock because there are no plastic bottles for the manufacturer to put the product in.

(No, the solution here is not necessarily to use glass bottles--we're talking about chemicals, some of which are nasty before being diluted, some of which you really, really don't want to break all over the floor, like bug spray.)
(I honestly do not know the solution, incidentally, this is just to head off the flippant "Well, just use glass, it's better anyway!" solution that will otherwise appear eleven thousand times in the tweet thread.)
This might not be a problem, but of course, everything is "just-in-time" these days, and even a few days of resin being down means some plastics are suddenly hitting a scarcity wall, on top of things like "our drivers all have COVID" and so forth.
Wild times.
Ah--they're also saying there's about to be a price hike on things like those little plastic seed trays, so even if spring is months off...I'm just saying, now might be a good time to assess your seed starting equipment.
