1) This is the $1M question. What kind of a system would work better than the current one? Here's my take on it.

2) The current system encourages corruption at the expense of the taxpayers. Not only is there no accountability or transparency, the government gets away with lying to us and manipulating us on a daily basis. When we speak up, we're ignored, at best. The hypocrisy is rampant.
3) So what would work better? Well, here's how I see it. We're told that we live in a free and democratic society, but our only option is to mark an X on a ballot and hope that the ones we vote for actually make good on their promises. They don't. We have no recourse beyond that.
4) What if an elected political figure ACTUALLY represented the will of their constituents? What if they HAD to carry out the will of the people they represent? The issues that are voted on from the municipal level to the federal level would be decided on by us instead of them.
5) No party whip, no caucus, just a figurehead facilitating what we want. Isn't that the whole point? Is that not why we vote for someone? We currently vote for a party/individual that/who claim(s) to want what we want, but then they end up bending to the pressures of the Party.
6) This isn't democratic; it's very undemocratic. Elected representatives should be LEGALLY bound to vote the way we expect them so. They should be held to the highest legal standard that can be applied. If you lie, you're gone. If you break your promises, you're gone.
7) We should have a line-up of secondary and tertiary representatives chomping at the bit to replace them. They should be terrified, under legal penalty, to fulfill their obligations instead of treating it like it's a free ride. They shouldn't be able to make a decision that...
8) ...wasn't mandated by their constituents, whether those constituents voted for them or for another party/individual. Absolutely everything should be broadcast for voters to see and hear. There should be harsh legal penalties for betraying the will of their constituents.
9) They would merely be there to facilitate what we, the voters, want. If they break that trust, they should be expelled automatically and immediately so that the next person in line can take their place to become the new facilitator. Would that not be fair?
10) They are hired by us, the taxpayers, to facilitate our will. Is that not the point of a democratic system? Would that not eliminate they ability for political figures to be bribed, threatened, or otherwise coerced into making decisions that don't represent what voters want?
11) I'm tired of the lies, the gaslighting, and the overreaching government bodies which claim to want what's best for us, only to do what's best or international non-governmental organizations and multinational corporations. I'm tired of the way they treat us like children.
12) We deserve something better. We deserve to have people whom we can trust who will be honored to uphold the values (truth, honesty, integrity, ethical decision making) that the vast majority expect them to uphold.
