A quick update on #GBNews... A number of people have asked if we have any info on the advertisers who'll be supporting this controversial channel.... Image
The latest we've seen is that the GB News launch date has *still* not been confirmed. In the meantime #StopFundingHate has been developing a system to help track & identify as many advertisers as possible from the first day that GB News starts broadcasting... Image
We've been trialing this system with some advertiser monitoring on the Russian Government's notorious propaganda channel RT (formerly known as Russia Today, now broadcasting on UK Freeview channel 234) and it's already yielded some interesting results... theguardian.com/commentisfree/… Image
So far, the companies that we've spotted advertising on RT's Freeview channel have been (understandably) quite sparse, but one recurrent funder of the Russian Government's international channel has been "Trusted precious metal dealer", bullionhouse.co.uk... Image
Also seen advertising on RT this week has been Direct Bullion, "London's Number One Bullion Dealer"...

We'll share more RT advertisers as we find them and will switch to monitoring GB News once the channel launches! Image
Oh wow - judging by this segment it looks like the Russian Government's propaganda channel RT already has the "anti woke" TV niche covered. Is GB News entering a bit of a crowded field? #DontFundGBNews
And there seems to be a bit of a theme emerging with RT's advertisers... Image

Supporters of GB News keep claiming that it will be Britain's first "anti woke" channel - but actually RT (run by the Russian government but broadcasting on Freeview in the UK) have been pushing out this kind of messaging for quite a while now... Image

It's clear from the huge response to the #DontFundGBNews campaign action that there's significant public concern about the multi-million pound plans to implement "Fox News style" broadcasting in the UK thelondoneconomic.com/news/dontfundg…
Everyone will have their own views on the #DontFundGBNews controversy, and on whether a "British Fox News" would be bad for our society...
