WWI, in particular, was not "our war" to fight.
The revisionist history that we didn't do fuck shit to win it is annoying to me. We could've just stayed the fuck out of it.

Our allies in WWI and WWII couldn't have won those wars without our support. Whether we should've entered those wars earlier is up for debate; what's clear is that they needed our support to win them.

FWIW, Eisenhower was the best general of the Allied forces.

Erwin Rommel was probably a better general, but he got shunted off to Africa, and then he may or may not have decided to enter into a plot to resist and assassinate Hitler (?).

It's thought that he had communication with British agents prior to this, and that this is part of what led to his demise, but the German records were destroyed. Perhaps someday we'll see who he talked to and what he talked to them about.
