"if Balochistan was given its due share of development, BLA would’ve failed to attract locals."

This is not a correct assessment, before I explain why, let me share few facts about Balochistan & its insurgency.

Out of 33 Balochistan districts, only 3 districts r problematic.
2/
Keep in mind, Balochistan forms 44% of the total area of Pakistan with the scarce population stretched across the rugged areas. There are not more than ~ 1500 militant fighters in Balochistan.

Now compare this strength with TTP's that had thousands of ferocious fighters..
3/
..at their disposal spread across Pak but concentrated in tribal districts. If Pak Army can annihilate TTP, how hard it's for Army to do the same with BLA?

Why is that Army is unable to put an end to these few militant groups in Balochistan?
4/
Answer:
1/ Vast terrain
2/ Foreign support (land + funds + weapons)
3/ local support (incl our left-wing academia that is a breeding ground for Baloch students radicalization)
4/ Lack of development

I've put lack of dev at the last because its not the primary reason..
5/
..of insurgency and here is why.

Poverty rate in the interior Sindh (18 districts) is 46%, Tharparkar (average more than 500 kids die of malnutrition yearly), sujawal and Thatta have a poverty rate of more than 50%. Yet there is no insurgency in these areas where theres..
6/
..abject property. Then why there's no insurgency in interior Sindh, because there is no 1, 2, and 3 (of my 4th tweet) in Sindh.

Hasil Bizenjo was a Baloch nationalist and was NOT a pro-Army and very critical of the state, even he lamented brainwashing of Baloch Youth.
7/
Then there is often repeated argument that the state is not doing much in Balochistan. This is another half-truth peddled far and wide.

Balochistan is the only province that gets its NFC share based on the tax target rather actual tax collected.
8/
In addition, any budget deficit of Balochistan is funded by Federal Govt, this is in additional Aghaz Haqooq-e-Balochistan allocations Balochistan govt gets.

On top of that Federal Govt & Army gives thousands of fully scholarship programs to Baloch..
9/
..students every year. In CPEC SEZs of Balochistan are getting prioritized along with Infra projects.

Next natural question that should be asked that if Federal Govt is doing all this then why still discontent. Because just like remaining part of Pak ails with governance..
10/
..issues, mismanagement and corruption. The thing holding Balochistan back is its centuries-old Sardari system.

In Balochistan, pro or anti state Baloch Sardars both are billionaires that subjugated their people. Image
11/
Akbar Bugti - a Baloch Sardar now revered widely by our leftist, killed his first man at the age of 12 and gloated about r@ping his opponent women.

He also forced out subtribes Kalpar and Masori from SUI and Dera Bugri and they were forced to become IDPs. Image
12/
Another oft-repeated argument is that people of Balochistan are getting disenfranchised, however, this is not true. Since 2002, voter there is 14% increase in voter turnout.

Voters turnout in Balochistan:
- 2002 - 29%
- 2008 - 31%
- 2013 - 39%
- 2018 - 45%
13/
Question should be asked from our liberal-left intellectuals that are supporters of militancy in Balochistan that if these groups have public backing then why they dont run for elections, form the govt and make things right for Balochistan?
16% increase*

Unable to understand why Jiyalas get riled up when IK talks about Islam.

Islam was one of the central themes of Bhutto's1970 election campaign, fearing that socialism would be portrayed as a western idea, Bhutto always took care to talk about *Islamic* socialism. Image
2/
In a speech shortly after the creation of the PPP ZAB said:
"I'll give my life and blood to strengthen this country and establish Islamic socialism according to the wishes of Quaid-e-Azam."

Post 71, ZAB wanted to be seen as a Pan-Islamic leader.
3/
Gave '73 Constitution which is Islamic, then 2nd amendment.

Pakistan's first National Seerat (Life of the Prophet) was launched by Bhutto. In the inaugural speech of the conference ZAB said:
"..steadfastly pursues the cherished goal of promoting Islamic ideals and values."

The Battle of Yamama and Sword of Allah:

Musailima al-Kadhab Army was the largest and most fanatical enemy force Muslims had ever faced in the early years of Islam after the Prophet's (PBUH) death, and its commander [Musailima] was the most vicious and cunning of men.
2/
Before the main battle, there were series of events that went in favor of Musailima thus demoralizing Muslims before Khalid bin Waleed took command.

Abu Bakr (R.A) appointed Ikrimah ibn Abi Jahl as the commander of one of the corps that would advance and make contact..
3/
..with the forces of Musailima at Yamamah, clear orders were given not to get involved in a battle with the Musailima.
Abu Bakr knew better than most of his generals the power and ability of Musailima and did not wish to risk fighting him with insufficient forces.

Three-Bloody coups took place in Afghanistan in 20 months - Thread:

In the 70s, instability in Afghan politics started when in 1973 Daoud Khan overthrew King Zahir Shah with the support of far-left parties (PDPA).
In 1977 Daoud Khan started to take action against PDPA..
2/
and refused to take orders from the Soviet Union. Things came to a head in 1977 when, during a visit to the Kremlin, Daoud had a flaming row with Brezhnev, who complained about the Afghan leader's seeking ties with Egypt, Saudi Arabia, and other countries.
3/
Daoud raged back that Afghans made their own decisions, and at one point banged his fists on the table for emphasis. Brezhnev is said to have stared in cold fury, and some consider this meeting the beginning of Daoud's downfall.

Nadeem Farooq Paracha is an embodiment of intellectual dishonesty that plagues our intellectual especially DAWN.

He is Comparing apples and oranges.
IK is a self-made man in the sense that he reached the zenith of his cricketing career not because of his well-to-do family..
..family connections, or Oxford education.
He peaked in cricket through his sheer hard work, talent, and perseverance.
Before politics, he was a renowned philanthropist, built an international standard Cancer hospital where the poor are treated free of cost.
..then created a university in a barren rugged land and gave scholarships to the poor and also became chancellor of Bradford University - UK.
IK started a political party, struggled, and finally broke the stranglehold of the two-party system in Pakistan.

Former Indian Army Chief Gen.K.M. Cariappa [1949-53] was suspicious of Muslims in Indian Army. Image

In an offensive titled diatribe published in the Organiser, the mouthpiece of the Hindu extremist organization called the RSS, Cariappa bluntly declared:
"Muslim loyalty seems to be primarily to Pakistan. This is a crime unpardonable.."

The scourge of sectarianism increased in the 80s but systematic killings of the Hazara community increased manifold during 2003-2013 (also coincided with WoT).

I'll list down major terrorist incidents targetting the Hazara community since 2003.
2/
On 8 June 2003, two LeJ gunmen on a motorcycle martyred 13 Shia Hazara police cadets & injured nine in Quetta after intercepting their van at a traffic circle.
A few weeks later, on 4 July, three LeJ terrorists stormed the Imambargah-i-Kalan in Quetta during Friday prayers..
3/
..and opened fire for ten minutes on the more than 500 worshippers gathered with AK-47s and hand grenades. When assaulted by some worshippers, one of them exploded a suicide belt. Fifty-three Hazara Shias died and over sixty were injured.
