Ten big reasons for the Senate to do whatever it takes to pass the For the People Act:
1. If presidential candidates disclosed their tax returns, the American people wouldn't have to wonder what interests the president could be beholden to or whether they paid their fair share citizensforethics.org/news/analysis/…
2. If presidents and vice presidents were forced to divest from their assets before taking the oath of office, the president couldn’t rake in $1.6 billion and we wouldn’t have to sue them for violating the Constitution citizensforethics.org/reports-invest…
3. If Supreme Court Justices were held to a code of ethics, they’d likely have to recuse from cases involving family members’ employers

(like Justice Amy Coney Barrett, who failed to recuse from a Supreme Court case about Shell)
4. If cabinet members’ private flights were restricted, people like Tom Price and Scott Pruitt wouldn’t be able to spend tens of thousands of taxpayer dollars on travel
5. If members of the House were banned from being on corporate boards, we wouldn't have to worry about them using their positions to enrich themselves

(like former Rep. Chris Collins did with Innate Immunotherapeutics back in 2017)
6. If members of Congress were more accountable to their constituents rather than to their wealthy donors, they would be less likely to get away with inciting an insurrection or going on tropical vacations during a crisis in their state
7. If political donors’ names were associated with the advertisements and dark money groups they funded, they could be held accountable for that spending, rather than saying one thing in public and doing another in private
8. If the FEC actually did its job, groups like CREW wouldn't have to sue the FEC to make sure there were consequences when dark money groups break the law
9. If voter registration and election procedures were modernized, more Americans would be able to make their voices heard more easily, shifting power from big money donors and corporations back to the people
10. If states stopped gerrymandering based on race and party, elections would be more about whose policies voters liked, rather than what side of the street they happen to live on
All of this would transform our democracy. It’s time to not just imagine what a better government could look like, but to make it happen.

Contact your senators today and ask them to pass the For the People Act!

Last week, we won a victory that might just be the key to understanding what exactly Jared Kushner was up to in the White House for four years…
In a reversal of policy after CREW sued the Trump admin, Jared handed over his WhatsApp messages to the National Archives before leaving the White House.

No one will have access to the records for several years, but here’s what we’ll be looking for:

Jared ran a “shadow” task force during the first months of the pandemic using private email accounts.

We’d love to know who he communicated with about covid response, especially after a report that he spiked national testing for political gain.

Congress needs to enact federal legislation securing every American’s right to vote
Start with uniform standards for state voter registration, including online registration systems, longer periods for voter registration, same-day registration and automatic voter registration
We need criminal penalties for interfering with someone's voter registration

2020 is finally, finally almost over.

We’re assuming it’s been as much of a blur for you as it has for us, so here's a quick review of the year in corruption.
As hard as it may be to believe, 2020 started with Trump’s impeachment trial in January. CREW dug into Library of Congress records and found that Trump’s was the first completed trial in US history in which the Senate called no witnesses.

In March, the pandemic changed everything...but nothing about corruption.

We saw members of Congress dumping stocks after getting classified briefings about the pandemic, so we filed a complaint and called for members to be banned from trading stocks.

We reviewed the Dominion voting machines in PA and the results may shock you! In counties using Dominion machines, Trump won 52.2%-46.7%. In counties not using Dominion machines, Biden won 50.8%-48.0%. So does this mean Dominion was really rigging the vote for Trump?
No, of course not. Don't be ridiculous. But it does show just how absurd the lies being peddled by Trump and his supporters really are. If you say Dominion was rigged and throw those votes out, Trump actually loses PA even worse than he really did.
The great thing is that all this info is public, and has been public this whole time. See votespa.com/Voting-in-PA/P… for a county breakdown on which machines were used and electionreturns.pa.gov for a county breakdown of results.
