One year ago today, COVID-19 was declared a 'Pandemic.'
We had already seen the images of people collapsing on the streets of Wuhan, the headlines of cases skyrocketing globally, and the doomsday modelling if we didn't do something NOW. 1/13
Hindsight is 20/20 and we can all agree that COVID-19 is truly a fierce pandemic. A year later, we have witnessed a pandemic of fear-mongering, overdose, suicide, depression, loneliness, financial ruin, censorship, and social engineering of epic proportions. 2/13
This pandemic declaration unleashed the swiftest, tactical PR blitz we have ever seen. Time has a way of dulling our senses to change, even when it's extreme, yet subtle. 3/13
It's easy to forget that we used to be healthy and now we are asymptomatic. For millennia, we quarantined the sick, not the healthy. 4/13
Society has always operated on the concept of assuming our interactions were healthy unless proven to be dangerous, now every interaction is potentially dangerous, all the time. 5/13
Science has shown that Vitamin D and fresh air are one of the primary defense mechanisms against coronaviruses, but that has been disdainfully ignored with broad orders that effectively encourage the populace to stay indoors. 6/13
Giving Grandma a hug and hearing her wisdom has been deemed a murderous act. Where once we studied gross mortality, influenza outbreak cycles, and annual hospital overcrowding, we now focus on largely vague KPIs such as excess deaths, cases, and flattening an elusive curve. 7/13
Instead of bringing cookies to your neighbours, we are encouraged to call a snitch line when we see their children coming for dinner. 8/13
Gathering with your fellow believers to find solace and encouragement in worship is, at its best, dangerously foolish and engaging in domestic terrorism at worst. 9/13
I have to remind you, the root of all of this is a human coronavirus, of which several strains have been known to us for centuries.
Or, is that really the root of all of this? 10/13
I will let you decide. I, for one, reject the concept of a new normal that is infused with turning neighbour against neighbour, grandson against grandma, police against citizens, and customer against customer. 11/13
I declare an end to this pandemic of obfuscation. Be honest with the people, give us the unbiased facts, let us decide how much risk we are willing to take, and treat us like adults. 12/13
If you have participated in this pandemic, confess your role, resign immediately, and let the leaders step up that care about the people. 13/13 END
