India and Myanmar share 1,643 km border and people on either side have familial ties.
A Free Movement Regime exists under which every member of the hill tribes, who is either a citizen of India or Myanmar and who is resident of any area within 16 km on either side can cross the border with a border pass issued by the authorities and can stay up to 2 weeks/visit.

MHA moves Bill to curtail Delhi government's powers, L-G opinion must in all Delhi Government/Delhi Cabinet's decisions. The Bill gives discretionary powers to the L-G of even in matters where the Legislative Assembly of Delhi is empowered to make laws.

Delhi is a Union Territory with a legislature and it came into being in 1991 under Article 239AA of the Constitution. As per the existing Act, the Legislative Assembly of Delhi has the power to make laws in all matters except public order, police and land.

Exclusive: The Centre will allow residents to fill columns in the National Population Register (NPR) forms on their own through online mode, a month before door-to-door enumeration by Census officials starts. I report.

After filling the form online, residents will get a reference code that they could mention to the field enumerator at the time of her/his visit, according to a senior government official.
The details of the respondent would get displayed on a mobile application developed in-house for conducting the Census exercise but no “biometrics or documents” would be collected

MHA is all set to introduce a legislation in the budget session of Parliament to amend a 1991 Act pertaining to the powers and functions of the Delhi government and the Lieutenant Governor (LG) based on the 2019 Supreme Court verdict. I report.

A Supreme Court Bench of Justices A.K. Sikri and Ashok Bhushan had, other than the question of services, given a unanimous verdict on the role of the two authorities. The services plea has been referred to a larger bench of the court and the hearing is yet to conclude.
Last year,MHA notified rules for the new UT of J&K, where it said that in case of difference of opinion between the LG and a Minister when no agreement could be reached even after a month, the “decision of the LG shall be deemed to have been accepted by the Council of Ministers.”
