Guess what folks? the #ResearchOps Community is 3 years old!!
We'll do a little thread of the past 3 years below, but we'd ❤️ to hear what the Community means to you, or the ways in which all the hard work of the community has impacted on your thinking about Ops?
In March 9, 2018, @katetowsey sent out a tweet asking if anyone wants to get together and nerd out about this thing she's calling Research Operations. She says she thought maybe 20 people would reply...
After we got to around 500 people, we got together and decided we should know what this thing 'ReOps' was...little did we know it would turn into 34 workshops in 17 countries!

We got all that data together and made a map of the things that #ResearchOps entails. It was a lot of effort, involving quantitative and qualitative approaches to synthesis (we Ops people are good at researching researchers) medium.com/researchops-co…
In Feb 2019, Kate stepped aside from the fast growing community, leaving it in the hands of the board of ReOps, affectionately known as the cheese board. The original members were:
@nishitagill @mrchrisadams @andrewmaier @emmaboulton @BrigetteMetzler and @zacknaylor
Meanwhile, the next global project, #ResearcherSkills had progressed through to beta and the workshops were underway under the careful leadership of @tomomiq and @davesresearch
The project has profoundly affected how we think about the skills researchers need across the course of their careers. Ops people are also enabling people for UXRs, so this was an important gift to enable us to think about how we scale the impact of the craft. Kudos team!
Here's a post about the project: medium.com/researchops-co…
and the website itself:

We made a website! You can find us at researchops.community
Many thanks to @hellotreemouse and @nishitagill for our wonderful branding. So much thought went into it, we are so grateful ❤️
You can read about who did it, how here: medium.com/researchops-co…
@emmaboulton blew all of our collective minds with the most read piece of all ReOps history (28k of you!) with the 8 Pillars of User Research - it describes all the ReOps things that need to be in place for research to happen:

The cheese board had grown, and now included @bradorego @hollyface1975 @hugofroesUX @judithmp Rebecca Wood Spagnoli @tomomiq and @davesresearch

In mid 2019, Holly & Brigette became the co-chairs of the community, working alongside the cheese board, & then project & local leads
We introduced #PairConnect - hands down one of the most loved parts of the community - essentially, connecting individuals in the community with each other - that's the secret sauce that makes it a community, so many thanks to all who've shown up for this!
We added another project - the #ResearchRepos project - little did we know that 2020 was just around the corner...we did AMAZING work in what has turned into a whole programme of work to better understand the how, what, where, who, why of research repositories & libraries.
Many thanks to the project leads @markmcelhaw @hollyface1975 @BrigetteMetzler, stream leads @cphuxdk Christina Tan, @algazel @DanaChrisfield and hugely important contributors @breakzqueen @heypaulkotz @SebastianHay @J3_SSC @PhilHesketh7 Ian Hamilton @msdesign21 + 100s more!
We did a showcase of that and all the resources produced so far (including the WIP messy stuff)
We've sent 290,000 messages in the slack. We are 7955 people from 62 countries - yes we are researchers & ops people. Together, we are learning, testing, growing and defining this profession of #ResearchOps
Happy birthday to all of YOU who've given so much to each other 🙌❤️🎉
Anything to add? We know there's a bunch we forgot, it's been a busy three years!
How could we forget the epic EPIC workshop presented by @BrigetteMetzler and @Sprae at EPIC2020! Benson and Brigette really laid out some fantastic and useful stuff in the Pace Layers work they put together! #epic #pacelayers
One of the BIGGEST things we did in 2020, was partner with @UXinsight_org to produce a conference that incorporated #ResearchOps throughout, using the 8 Pillars as inspiration. We're so thankful to @hugofroesUX and @emmaboulton for leading that, & working so tirelessly ❤️🎉
