People like Jude Doyle and Nicole Cliffe and every one else who has tried to smear Jesse will ultimately lose because he isn’t actually guilty of what they’ve accused him of and because he doesn’t need institutions to succeed. But it still has an impact.
Jesse’s first book is coming out next month. It’s not on trans issues at all, but I highly doubt major media outlets will touch it, unless it’s to smear him further. He’s not getting invited on Fresh Air any time soon, and that’s really a shame.
Imagine working on a project for 4 years and the reviews and interviews that sell books won’t be coming because people like Jude Doyle and Nicole Cliffe said you were a stalker. They’re liars, but people believe it anyway and that makes Jesse damaged goods to much of the press.
Of course, plenty of editors know this is bullshit but are too scared for their own skins to push back. Others believe whatever they read on the internet because they’re small-minded and can’t imagine “good” people telling lies.
Anyway, the only way to fight these liars and scolds is to support the people they’re trying to ruin. Plus if you buy his book I’ll sign it. amazon.com/Quick-Fix-Psyc…

We've got a great conversation coming out soon between Jesse and a trans clinician who works with kids. She's so thoughtful and sensible and it's a really good reminder of how the culture wars have distorted this issue.
I especially recommend this one for our more gender-critical listeners. Will be interested to hear your thoughts.
@sullydish has also had a couple of really interesting conversations with trans women lately. Even when they disagree, it's in good faith.
I haven’t listened to the big Clubhouse struggle session and probably won’t until someone cuts it from 5 hours to 5 minutes but I’ve been on Clubhouse since July and let’s just say this is not surprising.
I don’t know how many rooms I’ve been in where white people are either asked to leave or kicked off the stage for their skin color. Whether or not this is racism depends on your definition but it’s definitely prejudice and it’s rampant on CH.
I don’t, btw, think CH should crack down on this. I think it’s good to know what people really think.
Interesting perspective but this guy seems to think his way of viewing the world should be imposed on his patients whether or not they want it. washingtonpost.com/outlook/2021/0…
I’m guessing the vast majority of this country would respond to the pronoun question with confusion if not offense. But this doctor seems to think nearly everyone should be made uncomfortable to accommodate a tiny percentage of the population. How is this a good plan?
Here’s what I’d do... if you must play the pronoun game, put it on the intake form with a giant OPTIONAL tag. Otherwise, just go with biological sex. You’ll probably be correct.
I have got to find something to listen to besides NPR. I was trying to go back to sleep after taking my wife to the ferry this AM and heard the host of Morning Edition say. “We’ve lost so many lives to corona virus and police brutally.” Only one of those things is true.
The host didn’t specify what she meant by “police brutality” but 46 unarmed people were shot and killed by police in 2020. 16 of them were black. That’s out of a nation of 330 million people and millions of police encounters a year. It’s a fraction of a fraction of a fraction.
I don’t say this because I have any love for cops (I don’t) but because the job of the media is to accurately reflect what is happening in the world, and this ain’t it. No wonder people think we have a giant, racist police killing problem! That’s what they are told.
