Thomas W. Braden - Wikispooks

Nicaragua. In 1975 Braden was the principle interviewee in a three-part World In Action documentary 'The Rise and Fall of the CIA' where he revealed that Henry Kissinger had been the main operator in the US government running the 1973 coup which overthrew of Chilean president
Allende. "Doctor Kissinger ran the Chile operation, very much like a desk officer. He's that way, he likes to do things himself." According to Braden, Kissinger installed fascist dictator Pinochet. In 1940 Braden joined the British Army and was later recruited by the US Office
of Strategic Services (OSS). He moved to Washington DC, became part of a group of journalists known as the Georgetown Set and joined the CIA.

In 1950 Braden became head of International Organizations Division (IOD). His efforts focused on promoting anti-Communist elements in
groups like AFL-CIO. The IOD operated according to the same principles that guided Wisner's management of the Non-Communist Left. The purpose of supporting leftist groups was not to destroy or even to dominate, but rather to maintain a discreet proximity to and monitor the
thinking of such groups; to provide them with a mouthpiece so that they could blow off steam; and, in extremis, to exercise a final veto on their publicity and possibly their actions if they ever got too 'radical'.

These are among the practical lessons of diplomacy that Chair
of the International House NY Board of Trustees, Ambassador Frank Wisner, has shared with I-House Residents over the years through events focused on international relations. The initial impetus for forming I-House occurred when, after a chance encounter with a lone Chinese
graduate student on the steps of Columbia University in 1909, YMCA official Harry Edmonds began efforts to obtain funding to establish the House in order to foster relationships between students from different countries. International House opened its doors in 1924 with funding
from John D. Rockefeller, Jr. (who later funded identical houses at the University of Chicago and the University of California at Berkeley), as well as the Cleveland Hoadley Dodge family. Other Rockefeller family members to have served on the board of trustees include Abby
Aldrich Rockefeller. John D. Rockefeller III, David and Peggy Rockefeller, David Rockefeller, Jr., Abby M. O'Neill, and Peter M.O'Neill.

John D. Rockefeller, Jr. built International Houses at Berkeley, Chicago, and Paris prior to World War II
In that year he moved into a luxurious 40-room triplex apartment at 740 Park Avenue. In 1953, the real estate developer William Zeckendorf bought the 740 Park Avenue apartment complex and then sold it to Rockefeller, who quickly turned the building into a cooperative, selling it
on to his rich neighbors in the building. The building was constructed in 1929 by James T. Lee, the grandfather of Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis – Onassis lived there as a child. In 1937, one of the first well-known residents was John D. Rockefeller, Jr., who moved into 15/16B, a
duplex that many still consider New York's crown jewel apartment. According to New York City real estate lore, "whoever inherits the biggest penthouse at 740 inherits the throne of New York society itself."
It took nearly a year and a $12.5 million discount, but David Rockefeller’s staid Upper East Side townhouse finally sold earlier this month The new owner of the grand eight-bedroom home has finally been revealed and it’s none other than President Bill Clinton’s former advisor,
Doug Band, according to the Wall Street Journal. In 1979, the French government purchased an 18-room duplex for $600,000 to be used as their United Nations ambassador's residence.[9] The French government's duplex unit was sold in June 2014 for $70 million, reportedly $22 million
over the asking price – a bidding war involving three prospective buyers escalated the eventual selling price. The buyer was hedge fund billionaire Israel Englander, who already lived in the unit directly above, and surpassed a record set just days earlier by Egypt's richest
man, Nassef Sawiris, for a penthouse unit on nearby Fifth Avenue Lazard's New York City headquarters spans the top floors of 30 Rockefeller Plaza,[14] including what used to be Room 5600, the former offices of the Rockefeller family dynasty.
In particular, the family's office took up "Room 5600" on the entire 56th floor,[35] while the family's Rockefeller Foundation took up the entire floor below, and two other organizations supported by the Rockefellers also moved into the building.[35][36] By 1937, there were 392
employees of Room 5600, and by the time World War II was over, Room 5600 comprised the entire 54th through 56th floors.[37] The family offices became a hub for the family's political activity, with ties to both the Democratic and Republican parties at the city, state, and
national levels. Junior became the foundation chairman in 1917. One of the many prominent trustees of the institution since has been C. Douglas Dillon, the United States Secretary of the Treasury under both Presidents John F. Kennedy and Lyndon B. Johnson.
Up until 1939 the Rockefeller Foundation was funding research used to support Nazi racial science studies at the Kaiser Wilhelm Institute of Anthropology, Human Heredity, and Eugenics (KWIA.) The Rockefeller Foundation, along with the Carnegie Institution, was the primary
financier for the Eugenics Record Office, until 1939. The foundation also supported the early initiatives of Henry Kissinger, such as his directorship of Harvard's International Seminars (funded as well by the Central Intelligence Agency) and the early foreign policy magazine
Confluence, both established by him while he was still a graduate student.

In 1901, Gates designed the Rockefeller Institute for Medical Research (now Rockefeller University), of which he was board president. He then designed the Rockefeller Foundation, becoming a trustee
upon its creation in 1913. Gates served as president of the General Education Board, which became the leading foundation in the field of education.[6]
By 1912, however, John D. Rockefeller, Jr. was taking control of philanthropic policies, with Gates slipping to second place.
When he ceased being a business advisor to Rockefeller in 1912, Gates continued to advise him and his son, John D. Rockefeller, Jr., on philanthropic matters, at the same time serving on many corporate boards. He also served as president of the General Education Board, which
was subsequently merged into other Rockefeller family institutions. Gates steered Rockefeller Sr. money predominantly to syndicates arranged by the investment house of Kuhn, Loeb & Co., and, to a lesser extent, the house of J. P. Morgan.

It turned out that if Baker went down he could have brought John Kennedy and his entire administration with him because Baker was instrumental in

Illinois Central Railroad - Wikipedia

The Illinois Central was chartered by the Illinois General Assembly on February 10, 1851.[6] Senator Stephen A. Douglas and later President Abraham Lincoln were both Illinois Central men who lobbied for it. Douglas en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Illinois_…
owned land near the terminal in Chicago. Lincoln was a lawyer for the railroad. Upon its completion in 1856, the IC was the longest railroad in the world. Its main line went from Cairo, Illinois, at the southern tip of the state, to Galena, in the northwest corner. A branch line
went from Centralia (named for the railroad), to the rapidly growing city of Chicago. The Illinois Central, and the other "Harriman lines" owned by E.H. Harriman by the 20th century, became the target of the Illinois Central shopmen's strike of 1911.

The Kaiser Wilhelm Gesellschaft (KWG) was founded in 1911 in order to promote the natural sciences in Germany, by founding and maintaining research institutions formally independent from the state and its administrations. The institutions were to be under the guidance of
prominent directors, which included luminaries such as Walther Bothe, Peter Debye, Albert Einstein, Fritz Haber and Otto Hahn; a board of trustees also provided guidance.
Funding was ultimately obtained from sources internal and external to Germany. Internally, money was raised
from individuals, industry and the government, as well as through the Notgemeinschaft der Deutschen Wissenschaft (Emergency Association of German Science).
External to Germany, the Rockefeller Foundation granted students worldwide one-year study stipends, for whichever institute

Daniel Peter - Wikipedia

When Peter came up with the process of making milk chocolate in 1857, he had a problem with removing the water from the milk, which caused mildew to form. It was not until he enlisted the cooperation of M. Henri Nestlé, then a en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Daniel_Pe…
baby-food manufacturer who had invented a milk-condensation process, that finally, in 1875, after seven years of effort, he was able to bring the product onto the market. Later, in 1879, the two men formed a partnership that organised the Nestlé Company, eventually one of the
largest of Europe-based confection industries, into existence. He died on 4 November 1919 in Vevey, Switzerland.

During his time in the Caribbean, Sloane visited several islands and collected more than 1,000 plant specimens as well as large supplies of cacao and Peruvian bark
