The letters look like the typeface Metropolitaines (1905) by Hector Guimard, who also designed the famous Parisian metro station entrances with similar lettering.
I suspect that this Art Nouveau typeface was chosen for the association of the letterforms with the shape of teeth, particularly the letter R that is somewhat resembling a molar with a crown and roots.
