#TaxTwitter The @IRSnews and @USTreasury granted a 30-day extension today to file 1040 returns and pay 2020 taxes. They did not grant an extension of the 1st Q 2021 payment, nor did they take into account state deadlines, nor did they extend C Corp, Trusts/Estates, NFP 1/X
They also failed to take into account we are helping clients with UE benefits they retroactively made tax exempt $10,200 for FED purposes only(does not address states),the 3rd round of PpP™️ (yes it really is the 3rd round), the fact we have retro ERTC calcs for a shit ton of 2/X
clients, trying to determine when to apply for PpP™️ forgiveness, the fact Congress is likely going to fix the issue of allowing Schedule C's to go back retro to get more in PpP™️ round 1 (which they are sure to need help with based on gross receipts), then getting a Round 3 3/X
PpP™️ loan, more FFCRA calcs since they are resetting the days 4/1/21, dealing with questions on "Stimmy(Adam M™️)"payments, analysis of MFJ vs MFS to make sure clients maximize their savings, all while trying to make sure we are taking care of ourselves(yes this is important) 4/X
Our families, our staff during a F-ING Pandemic(yes, this is still around), all the while having to deal with all these damn changes the govt puts on the tax community to police over the last 12 months, along with clients who would really like our help, but we can't because 5/X
we are trying to make sure we meet your bullshit deadlines that you have zero clue on how to administer. Maybe at some point you will take advice from those who actually implement all your bullshit rules in REAL TIME and we can assist on helping with the timelines. 6/X
Until then, could you kindly quit tweeting your happy ass GIF's like you are doing anyone a favor by giving taxpayers a 30-day extension. Give yourselves a 90-day extension to catch up on what YOU ARE BEHIND ON and quit sending bullshit notices. Signed, a concerned CPA 7/7

@Taxtwitter I’m putting together a standard penalty abantement letter for IRS and States. To Whom It May Concern, I would like to start this letter with whatever I say it is with all due respect, and I mean with all due respect (it’s in the Geneva Convention). The above 1/X
referenced taxpayer was not able to meet their tax payment deadline because they were quarantined from {insert date} until {insert date (future date past 7/15)} because of COVID-19/20. They could not get in touch with their preparer (me, the one writing this stupid letter) 2/X
because I was dealing with the Cares Act, PpP, ERTC, Familrs First, and helping to ensure they “maybe” remained in business. During this time the above referenced taxpayer along with their preparer also had to deal with homeschooling their children, loneliness, the inability 3/X
