My last tweet was a test to see how my followers, who are predominantly of liberal leaning will react to the concept of violence.
I want to know what your opinion about violence is. Is it positive or negative?
A thread.

ਦੰਗਿਓ ਹਮ ਕਿੰਮ ਟਰੈਂ ਦੰਗੋ ਹਮਾਰੀ ਜਾਤ।
"Why would I be scared of violence? Violence is my caste, my identity."

In Sikhism, violence is not suppressed. It's celebrated. Not because it's "negative" but because it has the potential to be "positive" for the world.

Imagine a surgeon with a knife.
Now imagine a dacoit with a knife.
The doctor will use that knife to give life to someone. A dacoit will use the knife to end someone's life. It's the same knife. But the violence, (for what is surgery, if not violence against disease) gives life.

Human nature is not immune to violence. To be non violent is to deny your own nature, nurtured and developed over millennia.
Earth for compassion
Water for peace
Air for productivity
Space for elements to exist
And fire for violence.
Celebrate your fire.

Even God, if such an entity exists, is violent. And human violence is nothing compared to the violence of God. God creates life. And ends it. Creates planets, moons and galaxies and ends it in a moment.
ਉਤਪਤਿ ਪਰਲਉ ਸਬਦੇ ਹੋਵੈ ॥ ਸਬਦੇ ਹੀ ਫਿਰਿ ਓਪਤਿ ਹੋਵੈ ॥

If you are non violent, I commend you and respect you because you're working to suppress your own nature. But I refuse to be non violent because if I too embrace non violence, who will protect you, the non violent, from evil in the world?

If the outer body refuses to be armed, to be ready for violence, how will you train your inner body to be non violent? Will your white blood cells listen to your pleas to be non violent and stop killing the viruses and bacteria which threaten to kill you? What about medicine?

Or the stomach which must do violence against the food you feed it to create energy for the body to function?
Every breath you take, tiny microbes, too small to be seen, are killed when you inhale air. Violence everywhere. In the lightening, rains, the fusion of the sun. Violence

And the violence is not limited to just the physical body. I know of many books which have done violence against the world. Even thoughts can be violent. Can kill millions and have killed millions throughout history. Can we stop that violence?

Every God in the India is armed. From Sri Ram with his bow and arrows, to Sri Krishna with his Sudarshan chakra. From Hanuman with his mace to Shiva with his Trishul.
तुलसी मस्तक तब नवै, जब धनुष बान लो हाथ ।
"Tulsi will bow before you, o lord Ram, if you hold the bow and arrows"

Violence is not about hurting someone. Violence is required in the world that is filled with evil. With forces who will kill you and annihilate your culture, your religion. Your religion is safe only because of threat of violence. Courts, jails, army.. all violence.

So to surmise, I know I'm a joke account, but it's nice to talk about the deeper aspects of life once in a while too. So, don't be violent towards me in the replies. Remember, words can be violent too. lol
