Of the 11,886 deaths associated with "other opioids" in 2019 (more or less prescription), 5,709 of them, or 48%, were also attributed to heroin and/or fentanyl.

It ain't prescription pain medication. #opioidcrisis

w/o wonder.cdc.gov/controller/sav…
The "opioid crisis" is fixated on #Purdue and #OxyContin... when prescription opioids, on their own (presumably with or without benzos), only account for 12.4% of the 49,860 opioid related deaths in 2019... marvelous work, USA.
Total 2019: wonder.cdc.gov/controller/sav…

It's funny synths actually make it not add up... they were 36,359 (wonder.cdc.gov/controller/sav…) and heroin was 14,019 (wonder.cdc.gov/controller/sav…) plus aforementioned 11,886 = 62,264.

Idk man, #WTFentanyl.
We're stressing this b/c you have to understand that we have ALWAYS been erroneously counting synthetic deaths in with scripts, but there is no reason to suspect that's logical. Factoring this in dramatically adjusts OD deaths of ℞ opioids for DECADES.
ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/P…
It corrupts and calls to question the ENTIRE Doctor Prescribed Opioid Crisis™ narrative, especially when we also factor in the extant exponential growth curve of OD deaths since at least the 80s! Same destination, different car!
science.sciencemag.org/content/361/64…
We can further reinforce this with the reality that prescription control policy has NOT addressed the #opioidcrisis at all. In fact estimates of their future impact are AT BEST 5%.
jamanetwork.com/journals/jaman…
All we did was catalyze the illicit fentanyl era by removing objectively safer diverted pharmaceuticals. Don't believe us? Heroin is the primary initiating opioid now.
pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/28582659/

Why is that? Pills are hard to get and/or too costly.
jamanetwork.com/journals/jamap…
And yet... 1000%+ surge in synthetic opioid (illicit fentanyl) overdose deaths...
cdc.gov/mmwr/volumes/7…

...despite a nearly 40% reduction in prescribing.
ama-assn.org/system/files/2…
By the way: those Prescription Drug Monitoring Programs they thought would save the country from those "doctor shopping dope fiends?" Only by virtue of them OD'ing on heroin instead. Seeing pts in morgue isn't better than in clinic no matter their request.
sciencedirect.com/science/articl…
Let me + on to the origin point that I called them "prescription opioids" which is a misnomer. They are diverted pharma opioids more often than not. This means either a script recipient sold OR the more likely option that there was theft in supply chain.
samhsa.gov/data/sites/def…
And to tie it ALL together the #opioidcrisis has been predicated on this narrative that compassionate scripting actually caused a surge in not only OD but #OUD opioid use disorder as well.

This is false. Addiction is and always has been stable.

Tying back to the fent implicated in most OD deaths being illicit, this can be supported by the fact that it ranks low in terms of its % diversion (assuming no major change from 2007.)

"Fentanyl ranked last [...] reported by less than 20% [...]."
