Right now, QAnon is on a similar trajectory as Pizzagate was after Edgar Welch shot up Comet. After the widely publicized violence it became unfashionable to be a "Pizzagate believer" but they didn't go away by any means, they just found a more private corner of the internet.

For the first time EVER, I'm going to say this: Q actually saw this one coming.

There's a reason Q instructed their followers to stop saying "QAnon" and stop talking about "Q" and start using more and more coded language as the election approached.

It's also why none of the big-name Q promoters did their typical ban evasion tricks after the great purge of January 8th, but instead retreated to Telegram taking as many of their followers with them as possible.

They saw the writing on the wall.

What Pizzagate did was go into a state of semi-dormancy in late 2016 and especially after Welch was sentenced in June 2017.

They started coming out in public again when Q showed up and gained a following which welcomed them in.

QAnon may do the same.

The biggest difference right now is that Pizzagate was more disorganized that QAnon. There wasn't any sort of concerted effort to declare Welch a false flag. PGate believers knew he was one of them and felt embarrassed.

Not so with QAnon.

Plenty of QAnon followers are happy to accept the notion that Q Shaman was really a secret Antifa spy and no "real Anons" were present, so there are still pockets of very proud Anons who feel no shame.

I agree, which is why even on Telegram the formerly big Q promoters are playing it very safe in what they post (and losing their audience to people like Lin Wood, who does not currently fear prosecution, so continues to spin new theories).
