Y'all, I am dying. Someone broke into my n'hood clubhouse and essentially had a party. There are video stills circulating and very tough language being thrown around. When you look at the photos, it's clearly somebody's badass kids bored at 3 am. They didn't even do anything.
By all accounts they broke in and basically staged a reading of The Breakfast Club? No property damage or drugs or anything interesting.
Most boring teenagers in the history of mankind.
Anyway, this is renewing calls for armed security. The suburbs is wild.
I hope they at least made out or something but they look like they were just discussing philosophy.

I roll my ideas at texts all. the. time. A certain literature professor friend knows this to be true. And then you know what? It’s fine. No one dies. Just roll your eyes and move on.
Your conscription into this, the lowest hanging fruit of the culture wars, is weird and silly and unserious.
Read around it. Read through it. Don’t read it at all. But stop pretending you care. You don’t.
I am actually surprised to see some of the names in these replies. I don’t get why people care so much about the readability of books for which they are not the audience.
If you are a celebrity or airport book writer or a television host (just a few of the careers therein), why do you care this much about a humanities text? That’s just strange.
Roseanne Cash. Lawrence O’Donnell. Jeff Jarvis (that one makes sense). Why are they invested in this so much?
Update: I rescind my Athleta plus size ad snark. The leggings are so butter that I have gone back for a second haul. And all the plus size discussion groups are in tears talking about how positive their in-store experiences have been. So thumbs up to Athleta.
Like, people are legit crying in one of my groups because Athleta has all sizes in store, across the store, and kind sales people.
I’ve talked so much about Athleta that Lululemon wants to send me the competition lol
This just isn’t a good season for creating work for people. I am kinda amazed at the amount of just...junk people are generating after a year under extreme collective strain.
Even the nice extraneous stuff is just too much right now. We kinda need a moratorium on all personal mailings, gift exchanges, check-ins, round robins, etc.
And I don’t even know what to say to people soliciting things like class visits and subbing and what-not right now. The stuff we have to do to keep our jobs is one thing but nothing more.
