I have spent the past weeks reflecting on this past year. It really has been a whirlwind of mini events.
Although there has been a lot of awful scenes and loss, we must not forget the massive scenes of kindness and generosity we have seen over the past year. #DayOfReflection
Remembering the lady who popped to Morrison’s (at a time when popping to Morrison’s meant queuing for an hour) to buy me this after overhearing me telling a colleague that my wife was at home isolating and upset that she ran out of her go to comfort food
Remembering the army major banging on the front door of the pharmacy when we were coming in early to catch up everyday to offer us as many guys as we needed to help out with deliveries and crowd control
Remembering the director of the pharmacy I was working at finding a friend to drive a 120mile round trip to deliver 300 salbutamol inhalers to me on a Friday afternoon when the wholesalers put us on quota for “excessive” ordering
Remembering the manager of Pizza Hut who made me a cup of tea and let me ramble on to her after a particularly hard day when I felt broken
Remembering the countless people who made us masks when we just couldn’t get any
Remembering the man who stopped when he noticed I couldn’t fit some boards in my car, he tied them to his roof and drove them to my house unloaded them and left them there while I carried on to work
I also remember the countless people who have just said “thank you for what you’re doing” it is really the smallest of things that has got us all through this.
Let’s take the good parts of this year and carry them on, let that be the legacy
