Once again Israel’s electorate is divided between the racist far right and the racist far-far right.
My expert prediction is that Israel’s next government will be a finely balanced coalition bringing together the far-right racists and the far-right racists, possibly with far-right racist support from outside. This will depend on which faction the far-right racists decide to back
Keep your eye in particular on the far-right racists, as veteran Israel watchers know they are the kingmakers.
It’s easy to dismiss as insignificant but in Israeli politics a shift of just a single seat from the far-rights racists to the far-right racists can have enormous consequences for which far-right racists get to form a government. Weighty stuff
I know it’s all very complicated and nuanced but let me know if you have questions.
Israeli democracy is rich with traditions. One cherished ritual that is part of the delicate government formation process is for party leaders to compete to declare the loudest that they will never sit in government with Arabs.

For @nytimes:

If China does something badly –> China BAD AND SCARY

If China does something well –> China STILL BAD AND SCARY
After 9/11, Western regimes and their lackey media set to work propagandizing their populations against Muslims. Today they are in overdrive propagandizing their populations against China, Russia. Western politics are the policy of envy, xenophobia and permanent fear-mongering.
Remember that American liberals spent the past year berating Trump for not invoking the Defense Production Act, exactly the kind of measure that is denounced as "authoritarian" when China successfully mobilizes productive resources to fight the pandemic.

CNN is referring to what happened yesterday as a "domestic terror attack." But it just sounds so unserious, and as ever when "terrorism" is invoked by the establishment, it’s mostly a way to avoid hard, systemic questions about how and why we're here. Image
Chest-beating from Democrats about Our Great Republic and Democracy is just so hollow to me. The mob who ransacked @SpeakerPelosi’s office can never come close to the national and global looting by the corporations and war industry that Democrats and Republicans all loyally serve
Riots/protests are framed as An Attack On Our Democracy and Representatives. But who believes that Congress actually represents anyone but the rich and powerful? They can't even give people healthcare and cut them a decent check in the middle of an once in a century pandemic!

Having only emerged as something resembling a democracy in the 1960s, when formal apartheid was lifted, America’s short lived experiment may be coming to an end.
“Democracy” is supposed to peacefully manage conflicts over economic resources. The reason it’s seen to be “breaking down” is that it doesn’t fulfill that function: No matter who you vote for wealth continues its relentless concentration in fewer and fewer hands.
“Democracy” without economic democracy is just theater and eventually ends up producing the backlash and revolts we see everywhere. The same will happen in the EU as unaccountable apparatchiks beholden only to lobbyists for the rich and powerful consolidate their power.

The headline from @nytimes @IKershner and then paragraph 26 ...

Israel's crimes against millions of Palestinians as usual not significant enough to mar the image of the entity that rules them without granting them the most basic rights.
Here's a report on Israel's #CovidApartheid without the hasbara, from my @intifada colleague Omar Karmi: electronicintifada.net/blogs/omar-kar…
Is it because Palestinians aren't sufficiently human that @IKershner @nytimes can consider Israel to be a stunning success in vaccinating, while denying vaccines to millions of Palestinians under its brutal military rule just because they aren't Jews?

The foundation of an allegedly “Jewish state” in historic Palestine, by Zionist militias carrying out the systematic ethnic cleansing of the indigenous Palestinian Christian and Muslim population, and subjecting those who remain to apartheid, has always been a racist endeavor.
Zionism, the political ideology that justifies expelling Palestinians and stealing their land, is not Judaism. Israel's apartheid regime does not represent or act on behalf of Jews all over the world. Those who equate Judaism with the racist Zionist endeavor are anti-Semites.
Palestinians and Jews stand together against the violence and racism of Zionism. We must refuse to be silenced by Israel's thuggish lobby that tries to falsely implicate all Jews in Israel's crimes, and to smear even Palestinians defending their own rights as "anti-Semites"

I support full global nuclear disarmament but the current “non-proliferation” regime was designed to give imperialist powers (and their terrorist offspring like Israel) a near monopoly on nuclear weapons while most of the world is left defenseless against their threats.
It’s precisely because Iraq and Iran did not have nuclear weapons that they have been constantly subjected to attacks and threats from the US. It’s a lesson North Korea learned well.
And when Gaddafi gave up whatever weapons research he had going on (to Tony Blair) it did not assure security but rather opened the way to the Obama-led regime change war that ended with his murder and the destruction of Libya as a state.
