The flexibility of its alleged principles - i.e. sexual harassment is the worst of sins but Clinton, Cuomo, etc. get free passes - is a vital feature of totalitarianism. It's about power, not principle. Totalitarian elites are never held to their own ostensible standards.
Absolute principles, enforced vigorously and without regard to political privilege, tend to limit power. Laws that apply to everyone equally tend to be less oppressive because the elite, their allies, and their favored constituencies don't want to live under them.
As every corner of life is politicized, mobilized, and weaponized under totalitarian ideologies, the elite always reserve free passes and exemptions for themselves and their friends. Exemptions are among the most valuable commodities politicians sell to top financial supporters.
"Believe all women, except those who accuse Democrats" is a perfect statement of totalitarian principle. Due process becomes a privilege reserved for the Party; all others are guilty without trial, based solely on the accusations, even when they're patently absurd.
"Rules for Radicals" taught Saul Alinsky's disciples to use the standards and principles of their enemies as weapons against them.

The corollary lesson they all learned was: Never let your own principles become an obstacle to gaining or keeping power.
Even murderous terrorists can be rehabilitated to become important figures in left-wing academia and politics. Ted Kennedy killed a young women and became a "liberal lion" hero of feminism. Of COURSE sexual harasser governors and presidents have little to fear from "MeToo."
Movements like MeToo function the same way as Xi Jinping's endless crusades against "corruption" in China: they're either created as, or perverted into, political purges on behalf of totalitarian elites. People with good Party credentials don't get destroyed.
This has the important side effect of teaching grievance groups to seek the patronage of the totalitarian Party if they want to be taken seriously. Free passes for the elite reinforce the lesson that nothing happens without the blessing of Party leadership.
The Party decides which groups will be treated by its media as brave speakers of truth to power, noble grassroots crusades for justice and equity... and which will be treated as dangerous lunatics, reactionaries, or domestic terrorists.
Activists who seek the Party's favor MUST relax their standards for Party elite, and their application for patronage should emphasize how their crusade will increase the power and wealth of the central State. Totalitarians demand to be portrayed as the solution to all problems.
That's how we went from contempt for the "censorship" and "narrow-mindedness" of Moral Majority types to left-wing book-burners and Speech Police in a single generation. Conservative moral standards are conducive to individuality and responsibility, not total state power.
Today's far more militant and intolerant left-wing morality, on the other hand, is perfectly compatible with totalitarianism. The New Morality makes people angry, divided, confused, frightened, and atomized. It destroys the families and institutions that nourish independence.
It takes HUGE amounts of compulsive force to make normal people comply with left-wing moral standards. Normal people would laugh at the demands of the Left... if they weren't backed up by threats, boycotts, social media hate swarms, lawsuits, fines, pink slips, and regulations.
The old standards of free expression still kinda-sorta exist - they're reactivated with gusto when attempts are made to "cancel" a powerful lefty or Democrat politician. Vicious racists campaign daily against racism. Watch what happens if you try to burn a left-wing book.
Totalitarianism rests on the bedrock assertion that "it's okay when WE do it." Real power - total, nation-transforming, society-wrecking power - is exempting the elites from rules imposed vigorously against their enemies. True power is the ability to violate principle. /end

While doddering Joe Biden rambles about using his super diplomacy skills to write a strongly worded letter about human rights to Beijing, China is using economic blackmail to force foreign companies to recant their objections to slave labor.

breitbart.com/national-secur…
Democrat foreign policy, especially Obama and Biden's, is all about announcing conferences and writing letters, never about taking aggressive action to protect America's interests. Holding a meeting and issuing a joint statement is the OBJECTIVE, not a means to an end.
There is never any real thought given to translating these Strongly Worded Letters into effective action against aggressive and brutal regimes. The summit photo op is the end of the story. Whatever happens in the real world is not the Democrat's fault.

Guns are the opposite of masks: a symbol of individuality, responsibility, and the limits of state power vs. a symbol of submission, obedience, and blind faith in "the experts."

You're not supposed to think of yourself the way lawful gun owners are taught to.
As long as we're letting the government rack up insane levels of debt and spend money like water, we could do a lot worse than subsidizing concealed-carry classes for everyone. Even if attendees decide not to apply for the permits, they would benefit from the reality check.
Those who obtain guns to defend their families and properties are acknowledging realities that cannot be erased by all the political posturing in the world: there will always be people willing to harm you, and the State cannot protect you from all of them, all the time.

The Snyder Cut is so much better that watching the theatrical release of Justice League would be downright painful now. Whedon's version plays almost like a satire of Snyder's version. Ray Fisher's restraint is remarkable in retrospect - he was vandalized in the original cut.
Snyder gave the DC characters something that really set them apart from Marvel's hugely successful and highly entertaining movies: a sense of awe and grandeur, wonder and terror. There aren't a lot of important "normal folks" in his movies because that's us - the audience.
Snyder was driven by that sense of how incredible, overwhelming, and terrifying it would be to see these superhuman titans and their astounding feats - his cut of JL clearly positions the superheroes as successors to the "gods of old." A daunting but exhilarating perspective.

I don't know who needs to hear this, but the Chinese Communist Party is not synonymous with the Chinese people, much less "Asians."

Criticizing the CCP is not "racism," especially since the CCP is the world's biggest and most powerful racial supremacy group.
The Democrats made common cause with the CCP in 2020 because they were desperate to attack Trump and his voters in every possible way. The Dems wanted a racism narrative; the CCP wanted to shut down criticism of its handling of the pandemic. Their eyes met across a crowded room.
The Dems were eager for any club to beat Trump and Middle America with. The CCP said here, you can borrow ours. They took their club back last week and used it to beat Biden's hapless diplomatic squad to a bloody pulp in Alaska.

I'm aghast at the mainstreaming of antisemitism, but it's simply not true that it's the "last bigotry Americans accept." Anti-Asian bigotry is downright institutionalized at American universities, and anti-white bigotry is baked into every corner of elite culture and politics.
This is not just a semantic point, and the other acceptable - even mandated - bigotries in America are not unrelated to rising antisemitism. Antisemitism is a time-tested leading indicator of other bigotries to come in any society, the canary in the coal mine of prejudice.
Whenever those in power start deciding that some races or classes of people are simply inferior and should be treated as such under the law, the Jews are reliably among the first victims. It usually starts with them, but it never stops with them.

"Don't the Democrats realize that huge tax increases will cripple the pandemic-weakened economy and crush small businesses?"

Oh, they know. The shot-callers know. It's a feature, not a bug. Fewer people working is the Dem vision of utopia and permanent power.
The Democrats have a hard inner core of ruthless left-wing ideologues, surrounded by a mushy, flabby public layer of starry-eyed nitwits who are perpetually stunned to discover the rules of basic economics. The hard core knows EXACTLY what left-wing policies do to people.
The hard core, for example, knows minimum-wage hikes kill jobs. It's what they WANT. They are deliberately blowing up the bridges that lead from poverty to gainful employment and middle-class life. They need the hated middle class isolated and cut off from reinforcements.
