Plans by the Irish Government:

Next Monday (29/3/2021), NPHET meets to discuss the latest data and easing restrictions. After, it will be discussed by senior Ministers at the Cabinet Sub-Committee.

On Tuesday, the government meets to sign off discussions, followed by Taoiseach’s address.

#meehole will tell us we're still locked down. And it continues.

Sound familiar?

What will actually happen is:
1. Leaks begin today to gauge public response.

2. More leaks at the weekend, especially to the Sunday Papers.
3. There will be a final leak after Monday's meeting.

They will blame:

1. Paddy's Day/Mother's Day.
2. The AZ vaccine.
3. The Suez Canal is Blocked.
4. The Fine Weather we're having.

5. Teenagers meeting in groups having endless house parties.
6. Play dates.
7. Sinn Féin (obviously).
8. Variants coming in (I have a 5km limit yet how many people are passing through our airports?).
9. Insert a new made up excuse here.

Expect to hear that there’ll be a lot of "concern", talk of "new variants coming in", suggestions of a "cautious approach" and then the classic "the next few weeks are crucial", even "The 5km limit might go to 6km".

And don't forget that "we are all in this together" or "we’re the best in Europe", stop "playing politics", "what I would say to you is:", "hold firm", "do a bit more" etc.

There will be more confusing messaging.

I'm really tired of all of this now.

Madness is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting a different result. Regarding #lockdowns, we have descended into madness.

When is it going to end? Any ideas @IrishTimes @irishexaminer @Independent_ie?
