Thread: First I doubt this ring was made on the Mainland...It was most likely made on Minoan Crete, based on what is depicted on it...Was bull leaping a popular activity in Mycenae? Or is this just another looted treasure?

You know how summer (May/Jun/Jul) starts in Taurus? And how bull is the symbol of summer, because summer starts with calving of wild Eurasian cattle and ends with mating of wild Eurasian cattle?

Now if we look at the scene depicted on the ring, the bull is walking away from a green branch and towards a dog...Why?

Well green branches usually depict spring, or wet season in general, the old winter which in Crete starts in Nov and ends in Apr...This half of the year was symbolised by an Ibex, symbol of winter...Like on this ring, another one pilfered from Crete

What about the dog? This is obviously not a hunting scene...The dog is actually facing away from the bull...Well, did you know that the breeding season of he old dog breeds began at the end of summer, period marked by the bull...

So bull is walking from the bush to the dog...Summer is progressing from spring to autumn...But who is the figure above the bull? Well bull jumper obviously...The End 🙂

Ok I am definitely blind...This is not a dog in front of the bull. It is a lion. Didn't look at the tail properly...Lion, the symbol of autumn...Why because the main mating season of the Eurasian lions starts in Leo (Jul/Aug, the beginning of autumn) and spans Aug/Sep/Oct...

Regardless, the meaning of the scene depicted on the ring stays the same...I need better glasses...
