People ask why I'm not going out for daily wheelwalk since I'm "allowed" under Shielding.

What Govt say about Shielding is very different to what medical pros advise.

We've been told....

1. We need to stay socially distanced from everyone.

But that's not possible on footpaths when people won't give wheelchair users space. So that means wheelwalks aren't possible here where space is limited

2. Stay shielding until 3 weeks after 2nd vaccine
This was in our Shielding letter Dec 20. But has been dropped now that Govt want to open up and not support shielders. scientists and medical experts say we need to stay safe until fully vaccinated so most will continue.

3. Shielding is optional
Govt say they're lifting shielding because it's too difficult on us all. Well yes, it is, but it has always been optional and if we needed to be more flexible for our mental health then we obviously should.

But ....

..... actual the government removing official Shielding means some people will HAVE to go back to work even though it isn't safe. Others will have a lot of pressure to mix even though it isn't safe. Others will feel abandoned and might lose their support.

This is the reality!
We're not Shielding because it's fun.
We're trying to keep safe and protect ourselves and the NHS.

When you celebrate "the end of lockdown" please think about those for whom it's not the end!
