1. People who dismiss the blood, bones and lives that were paid for the right to vote have no understanding why voting is important.
2. When white people blocked us from voting they not only took away our right to pick elected officials, have representation, or to decide how taxes were distributed. They took away our rights to serve on juries.
3. When black towns were burned down, when black bodies hung from trees, when our children were brutalized and our women raped. All white juries would not convict. And because we could not sit on juries, we had no say in how justice was dealt
4. So in short, if you care about criminal justice but don’t vote and give up your jury rights, you are essentially saying you are okay with white supremacists judging you and your peers.
5. Their goal is pre-Jim Crow era justice and you are helping them along by removing yourself from the process.
