#Newsnight digs up a clip of @David_Cameron (then PM) saying that lobbying was "the next big scandal waiting to happen".

Oops.

#Greensill
@David_Cameron .@campbellclaret on #Newsnight, saying that Johnson and his ministers regularly break all 7 of the #NolanPrinciples - and he finds it "scary" that no one seems, with this government, to care very much about those breaches of public standards, or to view them as scandals.
@David_Cameron @campbellclaret Prof Elizabeth David-Barrett says on #Newsnight that the matters around Cameron/Arcuri are not so much about rule-breaking as "declining [public] standards".

And she gives examples, including those around (lack of) transparency.

@JolyonMaugham @GoodLawProject
@David_Cameron @campbellclaret @JolyonMaugham @GoodLawProject .@CharlesWalkerMP on #Newsnight - possibly a little milk-deprived - may be the only person in the UK coming out batting for Cameron, on the basis that 'a former PM's gotta have a life, and gotta be able to earn a crust'.

Astonishing tin-eared nonsense.
@David_Cameron @campbellclaret @JolyonMaugham @GoodLawProject @CharlesWalkerMP .@vincecable says on #Newsnight that there is an accountability and transparency deficit at the heart of UK politics, and sets out why.

#Greensill #Arcuri #Cameron
@David_Cameron @campbellclaret @JolyonMaugham @GoodLawProject @CharlesWalkerMP @vincecable Here is @maitlis's monologue from #Newnight on public standards.

Clear, concise, compelling.

6) If you are pseudonymous here, a VPN is especially important.

7) If pseudonymous, consider setting up a Simplelogin email address and putting it in profile. Shows you are a real person and differentiates you from trolls.

8) Did you know that @ signalapp now lets you…

Perhaps you'd like to ban the "aggressive chanting" of 'Stop the boats', recently used by far-right rioters, also?

Ohhhh.

That's one of yours, and of @RishiSunak, isn't it?

1) The provenance of 'Allahu Akbar', as used by Muslims in prayer, as a call to prayer, and as an exclamation of joy, distress or protest:

- at the latest, 632 CE (the death of Mohammed)…

2) The provenance of 'Stop the boats', as used by thug rioters on UK streets during August 2024 disorder:

- The early 2000s, Australia; and then adopted by @RishiSunak, @RobertJenrick and others in around 2023 in their anti-migrant 'culture wars'.

You are unfit.

RESIGN. Image
.@DonnaJonesPCC

2/2

1) You validate this rioting by seeking to 'understand' it.

2) You are in error: under international law, there is no "illegal migration" when it comes to asylum seekers.

3) Your Tory ideology is on display for all to see.

Your position is now untenable.
@DonnaJonesPCC PS:

Let's respond to a repressive violent societal event by removing from some SM users a protection - pseudonymity - which allows them to function on SM more safely and with less fear of attack or reprisal.

Yeah, let's do that. People less safe, all round. It's the Tory way.
.@Tobias_Ellwood

It would be helpful if, before you post this knee-jerk sh¹t ↑↑, you took time to think it through:

- Do you mean 'anonymity' to include 'pseudonymity'?

- What about those at risk of personal violence who would become SM-disenfranchised?…
.@Tobias_Ellwood

3/n

- What of civil servants and others with expertise, whose contribution would be negated by a personal ID requirement?

- Is it possible responsibly to ID oneself without forsaking pseudonymity?

- Isn't yours just a simplistic knee-jerk response?

A threat from F*r*ge:

"I tell you what. What you've seen on the streets of Hartlepool, of London, of Southport is nothing to what could happen over the course of the next few weeks".

[I'm not linking to the video clip.]

This is incitement to further violence.

@Keir_Starmer Image
If you want to check the evidence ↑↑, it's at 01:00 of the clip he put out.
Rather than link to the video from this inciter to violence, I have downloaded the clip, and so you can watch it without amplifying him, if you wish to.

Always worth keeping an eye on the European press…

~ 'Conspiracy of silence': Why Brexit has been largely absent from UK election campaign ~

↑↑ "The word "Brexit" features only 12 times in the Conservative Party's 76-page manifesto and just once in Labour's 131-page programme."

~ 'Conspiracy of silence': Why Brexit has been largely absent from UK election campaign ~

france24.com/en/europe/2024…
↑↑ It's been spotted in the 🇫🇷, if not in the 🇬🇧, press:

"Rather ironically, the main parties' near-silence on Brexit during the campaign appears out of step with public opinion."
